Château Margaux

Premier Grand Cru Classé Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2001

The sleeper vintage, one at this time I bet to be even more showy than the illustrious 2000. It’s simply just ready to go after a short decant wafting from the glass with layers of cassis, black truffle, violets and licorice. This is a wine of texture and elegance, as Margaux should be—It’s liquid cashmere in the mouth with melting tannins and a black truffle and mineral inflicted finale that keeps on going. Superb showing tonight, with still a long life ahead. — 2 months ago

Domaine La Rogerie

Chemin de Chalons Avize et Cramant Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay 2018

Such an incredible Champagne from surely the the next grower to develop that cult following. Straddling Avize and Cramant, single vineyard BdB Chemin de Chalons, (also made by Jacques Selosse), is a stunning expression of the site and the iconic village of Avize. It’s incredibly elegant, pure and detailed with seductive aromatics, a chalky mineral core and an amazing pillowy mousse that fills the mouth and continues to stay with you, giving way to its long and racy finale. Domaine d'Eugénie

Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2009

Blind tasting lunch 2009 theme. Black fruit, lots of spices on the nose and palate that is superb, powerful with such a great tannins texture, class and elegance, the finish is very long and is gorgeous. Still very young. 94-95

Egly-Ouriet

Cuvée des Grands Côtés Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes Coteaux Champenois Ambonnay Pinot Noir 2012

No doubt the finest Coteaux in all of Champagne, it’s particularly special to find this wine with some bottle age. From south facing 60+ year old vines in Ambonnay, 2012 is showing beautifully, drinking like a top notch red burg, perfumed, silky and pure with soft tannins and saline-mineral inflicted finale. Special wine. — 5 months ago

Les Preuses Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2020

A profound young Preuses. Decanted 90 minutes in advance, and only to improve in every facet as each minute passes during dinner, 2020 Preuses is a tremendous success and already showing so much of its brilliance. It’s aromatics are layered with ultra defined orchard fruit, white flowers and citrus oils with an oceanic edge and the palate is concentrated, mineral and focused with considerable tension, drive and a racy mineral-saline finale. Stunning wine with an amazing future. — 2 years ago

Château Laroze

Famille Meslin St. Émilion Grand Cru Merlot Blend 2014

Dark ruby colour. Dense nose: oak, blackberry/blackcurrant, cedar, very Bordeaux. Palate, supple, balanced, medium-bodied, with rounded tannins. Final average duration. Correct for its price. Classic style: the perfect Saint-Émilion à Papa. Not my favourite style but for its price, it's correct.

Robe rubis sombre.

Jacques Selosse

Substance Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne Chardonnay

(Disg. 2014)…Some of the most captivating aromatics you’ll ever find from Champagne, stunningly complex with infinite layers, racy acids and chalky minerality. Such incredible intensity, verve and an explosively long finale. Nothing like Selosse. Untouchable! — 7 months ago

Brut Grand Vintage Champagne 2012

A vintage, dry, winey, elegant, lively and nuanced champagne. Fine but intense bubbles. Deep aromatic bouquet of nuts, almonds, dried fruits, apricot, brioche, butter. Persistent finish with sweet bitters, consistent with the nose. Perfectly accompaniment to a meal.
