Warm weather is here, so time to break out the Ribolla Gialla!
Orangish gold color. Honeysuckle, lavender, and perfume/floral tones. Wasn’t what I was expecting from having many past vintages. Wine is more refined and less acidic than I’m used to. That’s not bad, wine just seems mellower than normal but more complex. — 2 months ago
paul lato 🇺🇸 pinot. duende… amazing!!!
👁️ light red, this is my reference how pinot should look like and there is no other grape matching this benchmark

Served around 55°F. The cork looked all kinds of nasty underneath the capsule but I was able to extract it, intact, with the help of a Durand. I then poured the bottle into a decanter about 30min prior to service. At the ripe age of 41, the 1983 pours a deep gold with a transparent core; medium viscosity with some slight signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of baked stone fruits: peach, apricot, marmalade, hazelnuts, baked lemon, and those gummy peach rings. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and the texture is creamy, buttery. I thought this was a lovely, mature Corton Charlemagne and while it is very much alive, its life-force is fading. Drink now. — 2 months ago
Perfect splurge for quick getaway to paradise for Presidents Day. The wine is medium gold in the glass… vibrant and alive with balanced acidity. Open and generous on the palate… smooth, silken, with vibrant citrus and cream notes. A lively and lovely dinner companion at this stage of development. Happy President’s Day, y’all. — 4 months ago
Yellow gold with copper hue, quite thin pale rim . Caramelised pineapple, saffron , vanilla , creme brûlée , quite rich and decadent. On the palate again quite rich , barley sugar , creme brûlée and saffron, just enough acidity to balance and a little alcoholic warmth . On the medium length finish , lemon rind and a touch of caramel . This is probably at peak now , just misses a little vibrancy , freshness, however successful for the vintage . Drink now and over the next 10- 15 years — 4 days ago
Deep gold in color. Lower acidity than expected. Lots of white stone fruit and sweetness with some biscuit on the palette. Great complement to Brie. For the vintage and the producer a little underwhelming. — 2 months ago
Ruby in color with a reddish rim.
Strong nose of black fruits, tobacco, cedar, licorice, light vanilla and chocolate notes.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate and fruit forward with blackberries, black currants, cooked plums, light oak, spices, chocolates, coffee, licorice, light vanilla and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
Fruit forward and elegant. Very tasty and enjoyable by itself as a sipping wine.
A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc.
14.2% alcohol by volume.
91 points.

Excellent Cabernet Sauvignon dominant wine (81%) with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc (12%) and Merlot (7%). Still purple in color there is a beautiful balance of fruit (cassis, black cherry, blackberry) with oak (cedar, clove) and emerging tertiary notes of forest floor and earth. There is a lovely harmony to this wine with its understated power and delicious flavors. A wonderful experience. — 7 days ago
