A tribute to the crest called Rattlesnake Hill, highest point of Monte Rosso Vineyard, famous for rattlesnakes living among the vines, seeking sunshine by day and coiling around the vines at night. Dark Ruby with aromas of berry fruits, tangy herb, pepper and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and ripe cherry with black pepper spice, vanilla and earthy sweet herbs. Soft chewy tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, spice and earthy oak. Nice! — 6 months ago
Unbelievable petite still delivers huge burst of fruit albeit a bit more restrained than bottles consumed last year. Beautiful bouquet of berries and earth promise great depth of flavor. The wine is brilliantly balanced and perfectly complemented pork tenderloin at Midway Mercantile. Enjoyed the dinner and wine immensely! — 2 months ago

Decanted about an hour prior to service; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 2006 Rattlesnake Ridge pours a deep ruby/purple with an opaque core and some rim variation. Medium+ viscosity with significant staining of the tears and signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart, ripe, and some desiccated, mostly black fruits. Black cherry, wild black brambles, black plums and some pruning, figs, black pepper, smoked meat, leather and hoisin. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose although the profile is fresher. The finish is long and reminded me of purple Sweet Tarts with crazy minerals. Balanced. This is showing so well right now and has a long life yet ahead. Drink now with a long decant and enjoy through 2036 easy. — 3 months ago
Basic ‘farmy’ label. Screw-top ease of opening. Deep color of Santa Rosa plum skins. Smells of sage smoke, wood shavings, rose petals, and berries. Classic Syrah flavors of mineral-water, plum jam, and savory pork-chops. Chewy and dense. Complex and intriguing. Hint of pepper and nutmeg on the finish. — 6 months ago
Dense purple red, medium to high pigment extraction. Plum, cherry and black currant aromas. Rounded cherry flavor with lengthy, almost syrupy mouthfeel. Decanting should bring out additional flavors, including plum and cola. Spearmint and black pepper aftertaste. Nice layers to this one — 2 years ago

New vintage, yummy blackberries and, er, tobacco. Becoming a favorite. After 30 minutes, a healthy dose of fine-grained skin astringency emerges. Tangy or slightly tart on finish, with plenty of mouth-coating skin tannins. Worth decanting a couple of hours — 2 months ago
