Rattlesnake Ridge Petite Syrah 2006

Decanted about an hour prior to service; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 2006 Rattlesnake Ridge pours a deep ruby/purple with an opaque core and some rim variation. Medium+ viscosity with significant staining of the tears and signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart, ripe, and some desiccated, mostly black fruits. Black cherry, wild black brambles, black plums and some pruning, figs, black pepper, smoked meat, leather and hoisin. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose although the profile is fresher. The finish is long and reminded me of purple Sweet Tarts with crazy minerals. Balanced. This is showing so well right now and has a long life yet ahead. Drink now with a long decant and enjoy through 2036 easy. — a month ago

Barnett Vineyards

Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Dark purple color. Nose is not as perfumed as the Cyrus Ryan or Rattlesnake but nicely fragrant with notes of currants and menthol. While 12 years on, it is quite balanced for a Spring Mountain wine. — 3 years ago

Rattlesnake Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

2021 vintage. Medium-heavy body. Some frontal opulence. Excellent mid-palate. Enduring finish. It didn't suck. 10.16.24. — a month ago

Rattlesnake Zinfandel 2021

A tribute to the crest called Rattlesnake Hill, highest point of Monte Rosso Vineyard, famous for rattlesnakes living among the vines, seeking sunshine by day and coiling around the vines at night. Dark Ruby with aromas of berry fruits, tangy herb, pepper and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and ripe cherry with black pepper spice, vanilla and earthy sweet herbs. Soft chewy tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, spice and earthy oak. Nice! — 4 months ago

New vintage, still a great take on Malbec. Strawberry flavor, lighter style, rounded mouthfeel, spearmint on finish with strawberry and blackberry — 2 years ago

Syrah 2018

Basic ‘farmy’ label. Screw-top ease of opening. Deep color of Santa Rosa plum skins. Smells of sage smoke, wood shavings, rose petals, and berries. Classic Syrah flavors of mineral-water, plum jam, and savory pork-chops. Chewy and dense. Complex and intriguing. Hint of pepper and nutmeg on the finish. — 4 months ago

Savage Grace

Copeland Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2019

Purple red, very good clarity, medium pigment extraction. Cherry, raspberry aromas with some barrel wood. On initial pour, cola, black pepper and sour plum. Soft mouthfeel but slightly bitter finish. Needs time to open. After two hours, flavors resolve into tart plum and some cola with slight pomegranate finish, mild skin astringency, good balance, almost no bitterness. A different take from previous vintages but solid rendition of the variety. — 10 months ago
