M. Chapoutier

Les Bécasses Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2010

2010 vintage. Courtesy of @Pinotman /// Andreas. Great fill. Nice cork. Opened with a Durand and decanted. Minimal sed. Tasted 45 minutes, 1.25 hours and 2 hours after open/decant. Initial gamey, smoky nose mostly dissipated and Chambord/dark plum rushed in to fill the vacuum. Medium-medium heavy body still. Surprising, this had not thinned out and was drinking mostly primary. Never been the biggest Chapoutier fan but will be keeping an eye out for this one in the May gray/grey market. Absolutely no rush to crush as this is aging at a (pre-Industrial Revolution) glacial pace. Thank you again @Pinotman /// Andreas!!! 4.17.26. — 2 months ago

There is no magic, but everything about is solid, authentic aromas, excellent fruit quality, plush texture, sound structure, subtle, appealing oak and overall harmony and integrity. Some might prefer more earth, more personality or stronger oak presence, but it has the focus and the definition most commercial, industrial wines miss. — 8 years ago

Vigneto Giardino Rive di Colbertaldo Dry Prosecco di Valdobbiadene Superiore

Lovely prosecco with aromatics that elevate it above the industrial plonk. Marzipan, citrus. Plush. Nice aperitif, if a tad sweet. — 8 years ago

Blanc Vin de Pays des Côtes de Gascogne Colombard

Very fruity smell, heavy citrus, maybe grapefruit? This was the house wine with the Beaux-arts menu. Nice to drink, although not overly sweet. — 9 years ago

Happy BD William. On our way to hear Alex Baldwin speak at City Arts & Lectures. Beautiful. Oh, to taste this again with some bottle age. Floral perfume already making a statement. — 9 years ago

Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir 2018

Delectable this was the Pinot Noir. Having a nice pre performance meal prior to the “Book of Mormon “ at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre - Lyric Theatre - which was hilarious I thought. The wine was young, my first 2018 Red - fresh and simple. Some foresty and red fruit aromas. Good intensity for the price. — 7 years ago

Concentrated, spicy and nutty. Obviously not industrial product. The kind of wine you wish all Trentino PG would be. #pinotgrigio #dolomiti #trentinoaltoadige — 8 years ago

Temperance Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014

Deep musty. Manure. Medical facility / sterile alcohol forward nose. Nose develops over time, and softens from the harsh industrial qualities. Taste is surprising. Big juicy fruit. Alcohol certainly is more prominent than in others by same. — 9 years ago

Lugana Trebbiano

Likely verdicchio instead of Trebbiano as mentioned in Godforsaken grapes. Bright, mineral, strawberries. “Yet what should become of the world? The industrial countries spreading like a blackness over all the world, horrible, in the end destructive. And the Garda was so lovely under the sky of sunshine, it was intolerable.” — 7 years ago

Casa Barranca

Arts & Crafts Central Coast Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2016

Merlot fronted Bordeaux blend from Santa Ynez (43% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon). Much better with time to breath. Mixed berry fruit, tobacco, and subtle black licorice. Acidity stands firms and outshines tannins on the palate. Super fresh and juicy forest fruits pervade. Think pasta or grilled chicken pairing. Cool label artwork too! — 8 years ago

'A Vita

Rosso Classico Superiore Cirò Gaglioppo

Very unique wine from Calabria, 100% Gaglioppo grapes. Medium bodied, light-red brick color. In a region composed of predominantly industrial, uninteresting wines, this producer shines with a lean, food-friendly style. — 8 years ago

Four Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay 2014

True love. This is why I've been a member since I stumbled across this little winery with no tasting room, just a industrial center and a table and wine. Awesome crew. This wine... The fruit is so fresh and pure, without being perfumed. It has a touch of the citric acid and salinity that just brings everything together. The palette is just wonderful, a slow drive initially then the mouth filling acid comes through, though still restrained. It has wonderful floral depth. The finish lingers. Bravo. — 9 years ago
