Pepper jam, peppery and jammy, peppers jammed into a waft, put some pep in my jam. Think I’m gettin high off the boozy bouquet fumes.
Recommended by the French man at MFC Rare Wines in the West Village, an intimate little shop tucked away off the main intersection.
He said this vintage in particular really surprised him, so I made the impulse buy.
This wild thing delivers. Jammy for sure, but also hits those herbal and sharp tart and juicy fruit notes. We’ll balanced acidity. A good chew for sure.
Love this pick. Especially with pizza from Motorino’s

Barthod needs age, and ‘06 Les Cras, one of my favorite sites in Burgundy, is showing beautifully tonight after some air, not at all clunky like the vintage can sometimes be, but instead showing both richness and elegance, focus and complexity, and at the perfect intersection of primary and secondary character. A terrific 2006. — 4 months ago
Dark, stoney blend of 1/3 Pinot and 2/3 Gamay. Shows as much as it's less finesse, more structure and grippy - at the intersection of mineral rich earth and fresh red berry. Notes of black pepper, graphite and cedar. Dark chocolate covered cherries and fruit leather strips. Quite a bit of tannin and earth finding it's way through too and right into flavors of fresh raspberries, bright cherries. — 2 years ago
This is an AMAZING Pinot Gris. We love Pinot and this is the intersection of price and value — 4 years ago
Catching this wine in its prime age - at the intersection of wisdom and youthful vibrancy.
Stew of sticky mahogany maraschino cherries and raspberry jam, cola and medicinal herbs. At once fruit, and other times chocolate fudge, always accents of mint and spruce.
Texture like old fashioned soda shop syrup - pulpy and viscous and mouth coating delicious. — 2 years ago
Really enjoyed this. Warm strawberry leather, blackberry, black cherry, and red plum sauce. Dusty earth, white pepper, pencil lead, hint of cocoa, and tobacco. Right at the intersection of old world earthiness with ripe (to slightly overripe) fruit. Excellent w Birria tacos. Decanted in advance.

The Envinate line comes from a group of four friends who make natural inspired, and sometimes incredibly complex wines mostly from a tiny pocket in the Canary Islands. They can be so good they become a rare intersection of the natural and somm worlds, which tend not to play nice together.
Louses is a gorgeous, complex, elegant field blend with heavy accents of Mencia. It has cocoa, raspberries, blackberries, cedar, and the softest plushest pillow texture. — 4 years ago

The majestic 2010 Raveneau vintage. 2010 Butteaux is just electric after a few hours in the decanter, showing right at the intersection between youthful vigor and secondary character as it’s starting to develop that magical Raveneau waxy texture that comes with age. It’s deeply aromatic, layered and impeccably balanced between creamy yellow fruit density, stony Chablisen minerality and piercing lemony acids driving everything home. Raveneau is just in a league of its own and 2010 will be one of the best vintages ever for the Domaine and a true classic, terroir driven expression. My favorite since 2004. — 4 months ago
