Tasted blind. Medium ruby garnet , medium garnet rim . Quite classic and elegant, with cigar box , grafite and some dried earth , some slightly toasty notes also . On the palate this shows good balance , fresh acidity , classic blackcurrant , cigar box , earthy touch . Good depth and length , grafite tinged finish , quite correct and no extra sweetness or weight . Good length and a spicy , mineral , blackcurrant tinged finish . Lafite ? Still young , really well balanced. From now and over the next 10 to 15 years. This was actually the Mouton , which was a great surprise, but certainly a pleasant one ! — 8 days ago

2010 vintage. Not a fave producer by any means but a fave plot. Opened and decanted with a small amount of sed. Verry aromatic throughout. Didn't want to open this but the other/first red Burg offering/option was underwhelming so this got pressed into service. Light medium/medium body. Plenty of complexities in both the nose and mouth. Excellent acidity baseline to administrate the proceedings. This can easily go another decade. Didn't have enough time to experience this properly unfolding but the time that was spent was thoroughly enjoyable. 10.2.26. — 6 days ago

Clos Saint‑Jacques is often hailed as the “Musigny” of Gevrey‑Chambertin. It combines the signature power and structure of Gevrey with the elegance and finesse of Vosne‑Romanée, and Armand Rousseau’s bottling has always been remarkably consistent.

2004 was a challenging vintage—a weak year in which many grapes failed to reach full ripeness. Now that it has entered its drinking window, it opens up quite nicely. This is not a flamboyant style; instead, it leans more toward herbaceous notes and bay leaf, with hints of florals and red cherry. It has a mineral quality, yet without the saline or briny character often found in other Gevrey vineyards. The acidity is well‑balanced.
