Sometimes I just open a quality bottle for no real occasion, and today is one of those days. The nose and opening palette is pretty standard for white burg - lemon, green apple, saline minerals. But what sets this apart is the incredible finish - ethereal complexity of dried apple, apricot, almond, subtle oak, bitters, lemon zest and delicate citrus. Tame acidity that opens up over time . Feels very light (despite 13.5% abv), refined and elegant. Deserves to be served on its own, maybe with some herbed and salted nuts. But I’m having it with Goodles parm mac n cheese and Zapp’s Voodoo chips. It’s divine :) — a month ago

Opened this for my 44th namesake, and well; there’s some of that distinct ripe red cherry in top quality red burgundy, followed by faint earthy notes with an intense acidic finish. Pondering if I open too soon or if that’s the Corton profile. Let me know. — a year ago

Third wine from Angelus, wine is pale red with some purple. I think its because of merlot aging. On nose its plums, figs, oak with stronfg smokiness, tropical. On palate its so smooth, medium acidity, juicy, succulent, on intensity i think this wine already passed its peak. Should drink it like 3 years earlier. Still a good wine but if you want to try it, do it with younger wine. Cheers! — 6 months ago

Continuing quest to taste as many 22’s as possible.

Nose shows similarities to Vincent Dauvissat. Honeysuckle-honeycomb, butterscotch, melted butter, biscuits, yellow florals.

The palate reveals good viscosity, round, long & thick. Meyer lemon, apricots, yellow peach, red & green apple, syrupy pineapple, white spice, limestone marl, grey volcanics, sea spray-saline, muddy chalk, flint, almonds, yellow & white flowers, excellent round acidity and beautiful, balanced, well polished, lush finish that lasts just over two-minutes and landing on spice & minerals.

Will merit another point or two w/ appropriate age (5 plus years) and is a better buy at $220 than the 22 Dauvissat for $20 more. — 5 months ago
