A rose sparkler. Prodigious medium course bubbles. A bit of funk on the nose. The palate features tart underripe strawberries, cranberries, grapefruit, white pepper, with a bit of gunpowder appearing late. Medium plus acid, medium alcohol, bone dry, medium finish. — 2 months ago
Didn’t love this - aroma was classic Burgh fruit but palate didn’t match - overly musty/underwhelming - maybe needs some age. Or the sons aren’t up to the dads standard — a month ago
Singing now but plenty of stuffing to go the distance — 3 months ago
Medium deep ruby , pink rim , quite intense , with coloured tears noticeable . Quite closed but deep dark fruited , serious but compact nose , with touch of dark chocolate , grafite , blackberry , dark plum, cherry . On the palate more dark fruits , blackberry , dark plum , cherry , quite rich with dark chocolate, grafite nuances . Balanced acidity with quite gritty tannins . Slightly mineral and saline tinged on the medium length finish , with just a slight warmth from the alcohol noticeable . Certainly ambitious for a Castillion Cotes de Bordeaux , though unsurprisingly makes no mention of this on the front label ! This shows quite young , will improve over another 5 - 7 years and last a further 5-10. — 6 months ago
Really picking up now with mellowed acidity and an more pronounced fruit profile. Lactic note with some mushroom and medium finish. This is very nice! — a month ago
Epic Aligote. The best vintage of this I’ve had. Perfect balance of reduction, texture and nutty, umami goodness. — 3 months ago
Nose: some funk. Blows off. White flowers.
Palate: sweet fruit. Mineral. Good. Well made. Not too wooly.
