At the Downs Club Magnum Dinner and this was a great way to finish the evening with a Magnum of Warres VP. Just a medium ruby in colour. Typical burnt rancio notes. Resolved tannins and spirit - drinking beautifully at its peak. Drink or hold for a few more years. — 7 years ago
This is the Porto Rocha 10 Year Old Tawny. Tastes more like a 20 yo Tawny. Lovely notes of fig and dates. Lovely Rancio nose. Long finish. Delicious! — 8 years ago
Caramel. Bananas and apricot foster. Toasted almond and hazelnut. — 2 years ago
2021/4. Intensely and rich, with lot of raisins, brandied fruit, and walnuts - but also a wonderful balancing acidity to keep things bright. Just a hint of rancio on the finish. — 5 years ago
Balanced and smooth with still sufficient acidity. Touch of rancio on long finish. — 6 years ago

These old Vintage Ports from the likes of Lindemans live forever. Rancio spirity aromas with dried fruit raisin notes. A thick mouthfeel - goes to all corners - of profound intensity. Notes of cough medicine which is not unusual. Will still be going strong in a decade or two. — 6 years ago
Bears some resemblance to the Sassicaia 2016, but perhaps noticeably less tart and a bit rougher in composition. I get a hint of rancio. Outperforms many more expensive Tuscan blends... great fun for the money. — 6 years ago
Strange and incredible. — 7 years ago
Beautiful nose of dried figs. Sherry-like. Palette is soft and off-dry, and lacks the bitterness you might expect from a well priced fortified wine. Solid value and wonderful desert wine. — 9 years ago
