Just a sick sick wine. Nose is the most intense olive. Black, green, tapenade. Just wow. Some blackberry fruit and inane mintiness. Such deepness. So much depth and umami. So many unique aromas that I can’t quite identify. What a palate. Ripe, linear and so juicy. Balanced and pure with flavors of blackberry and olive. Really juicy and fresh. One of the richer 21’s. Having said that the energy is undeniable. This needs air but man the bones are there. So juicy and sleek today. Like an oil slick on the palate but so energetic. Long finish. 9.5 to 9.6 overnight. Really nice granite today. — 2 days ago

Love their stuff. Still have a case of 2021 St. Joseph blanc that hasn't made it onto the list yet.

Champagne from the Cote de Bar. Crisp and dry with extra fine bubbles. Strawberry blonde in the glass. Excellent minerality - like a sparkling Chablis. — 8 months ago

Gauthier Sylvain Saint-Joseph Syrah 2022

Nice but perhaps not at the level I was hoping. Quite fruit forward with lots of nice dark fruit with the requisite olive notes etc. Tannins and acid both less than expected. Nice pairing with chicken roasted with feta and olives. — 2 months ago

More later but wow is this stunning as I remember. So refined and elegant. Unreal fruit, granitic lift and length. Genius. Ahh, so gamey, meaty, olivey and feral now with great sweet fruits and a silky texture. Gorgeous. — 3 months ago

Prémices... Beaujolais Villages Gamay 2003

A beauty of a wine. After some air it’s fruity, vibrant and the acid is refreshingly delicate — 5 months ago

Les Crots Rosé de Saignée Champagne Pinot Noir 2014

Just look at this stunning thing. Gorgeous. That electric, deep red color with a little effusive perlage. From opening to finishing it off, you will continue to appreciate this hue. It’s so lovely. The nose is so alive and vibrant instantly. Blood orange straight out of the gate with ripe cherries for accompaniment. Butterscotch and licorice for days. There’s some really intriguing floral notes going on here, as well. One of the most distinct noses I can remember.

This is a powerhouse vinous wine that delivers on its promise. It’s an intense pure Pinot Noir champagne and the Saignée method just adds to the experience. Very Burgundian throughout, there’s a nice level of refinement and elegance here despite the electric nature. The acidity is well placed and sharp. Disgorged in November of 2019, with no dosage.

Erotically charged in the mouth, this continues to blow you away. Just the mere suggestion of spice initially on the attack. Those bright, sexy red fruits soon take over however. Juicy strawberries and bright cherries. Such a long, lusty brilliant finish that honestly leaves you wanting just one more drop. Single vineyard, single year and tiny production. All adds up to distinct excellence.
