Tannat 2022

Heavy stuff.
Having the last glass on day 3. It's mellowed out quite a bit. Juicy mouthfeel, I taste and smell candy and nuts; my brain says Boston baked bean candy. It finishes with brooding, dark cherry and blueberry, with a little nutmeg. The tannins have chilled, but still leathery. I enjoyed it!

Alcyone Atlàntida Tannat

Tannat desert wine? I was intrigued! Per previous comments, port-like, funky candied-anise type nose, not tannic at all. Big fan! — 17 days ago

Pisano

Cisplatino Tannat-Merlot Blend 2020

Cute label. Good name. Color is light, but ruby red. Smell is toast with berry-grape jam. Hint of licorice stuff. Flavors are balanced and complex. Licorice and smoke. Flavors are awesome. Interesting and exciting. Bite with perfect berry compote. Cassis in there. Elegant and fresh. Nice stuff. Muy Bueno. — 7 months ago

Reserva Tannat 2022

What a fabulous wine from Uruguay! I’ve had the Cab Sauv but this is just as delicious. Very fruit forward and smooth. - Sandy’s Shack Imported Wine and Beer — 5 hours ago

Pisano

RPF Reserva Personal de la Familia Progreso Tannat

Pisano RPF Tannat 2021 🇺🇾
A bold statement from Uruguay’s signature grape.

Crafted from 100% Tannat, this wine is part of Pisano’s most prestigious line, with RPF meaning Reserva Personal de la Familia, originally held back for family use only. Aged for 10–12 months in French oak, this is a powerful, intense, and deeply expressive red that doesn’t hold back.

On the nose: Explosive aromas of black plum, blackberry, charred tobacco, leather, and a heavy dusting of dark spices.

On the palate: A dark-fruited cascade, plum, blackberry compote, and baking spices unfold with layers of earthy, savory depth. Expect firm, drying tannins (classic Tannat!) balanced by juicy fruit and oak integration. Give it time, as it needs a good decant to fully show its hand.

Mouthfeel: Dense, textured, with a long, flavorful finish that sticks with you.

Food pairing? A must. Think grilled meats, short ribs, or slow-cooked lamb.

A wine that commands attention and celebrates bold Latino character, pure power with soul.

Cheers! 🥂🔥

Reserva Cabernet Franc 2021

Another solid vintage of this Uruguayan Cabernet Franc. Dark purple color with violet highlights. Aromas of black fruit, tar, violets and poblano peppers. Flavors of ripe blackberry, prunes, bramble berries, pepper spice and dark chocolate. Hint of mint on the long and fruit forward finish. Firm and chalky tannins and medium bodied. Well balanced and complex. Well crafted. Solid QPR. Thanks for including in your Cab Franc Tasting, Ron B! Revisited in July 2025. Nice freshness! — 3 months ago

Estate Tannat de Corte 2020

Surprised by this wine. Complex for such a young wine. Dry, deep, noticeable tannins, berries. R loved it. Thought it was good and well rounded. — 5 months ago
