Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1936

1986 vintage opened 1-14-23. Base neck fill. Owned since buying in 1988. Opened with a Durand. Cork moist to top. Decanted and only fine sediment in the dregs. Color really strong, no bricking at edge but you could see just a bit of rust in the overall color. Still opaque. Musty at first but lots of great mature aroma and leather after 20 minutes. Lasted an hour in the decanter and got more smooth. Don’t look for fruit but a great accompaniment to the dinner of a braised chicken with pancetta and tomatoes. — 2 years ago

1hr+ decant. I could smell the empty bottle all day long as it was so floral and lovely. Surprisingly it didn’t show at all on the nose or palate. Very similar to previous notes. Wine is getting tired and shows it age with rust like colors and a medium minus finish. Depth has faded too. — 3 years ago

Feiler-Artinger

Beerenauslese Rust Traminer 2020

Well crafted BA wine with terrific purity of fruit: orange blossom, apricot, mango, pineapple, ripe apple, wet stone, yellow plum, and white peach. The sweetness is exceptionally well balanced by crisp acidity and well defined fruit. Great purity - excellent. — 9 months ago

Medium red color with ample bricking. Nose contains lots of rust with some minerals and blood. Medium minus depth with hardly any fruit. Very earthy and grassy. Medium finish. Probably over the hill as this usually has big, bright fruit. — 3 years ago

Deep Ruby color with aromas of dark black fruits, smoky herb and woody pepper spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and plum with cacao, burnt tobacco, vanilla and black pepper. Weissburgunder 2018

All hail, winter whites 🙌🏻🙌🏻.
An ideal pairing with a buttery, flakey, whole wheat chard, mushroom & ricotta galette. Great acid. Pear, lemon zest, butter, barely ripe white nectarine, a touch a marzipan/canided almond/candied pineapple and a pristine zing on the finish. Heidi Schrock is a master at her craft. Right now I’m loving these zingy whites (and a little RS doesn’t hurt so sue me)
