Bonny Doon Vineyard

Old Telegram Mourvedre 2016

Very interesting Central Coast single varietal offering. Dark ruby color with a garnet rim. Plush aromas of black fruit, violets, smoke and wet slate. Black plum, black raspberry and boysenberry fruit flavors with hints of black pepper and dark bitter chocolate. Long, dusty and mineral-laden finish. Plush soft tannins, fruit forward and quite fleshy. Wonderful balance and perfectly aged. Another unique and well crafted Boony Doon wine. — 2 months ago

Nose: hint elegant vegetal. Lovely perfume.

Palate: a tad vegetal. Spice. Some spice. Not super joyous. More fruit as opens.

Derby Wine Estates

Derbyshire Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022

A most interesting wine. Needs 30 minutes.

Nose: soft cherries. Library dust. Gorgeous cherry flowers. Like a 9.5 nose.

Palate: silky texture. Lovely early season cherries. A touch of vegetal notes. These go away with air. Juicy. Cherry spice. Delicious in an elegant way. A hint of savoriness. Texture is elite. Pure silk.

Psycho finish. You get that lingering elegant spice.

Wrath

San Saba Vineyard Syrah 2019

Ripe, rich, big Syrah, but also has a green vegetal streak, tobacco notes as well, smooth for 14.6% ABV, good balance as well, medium-long finish, the vegetal notes definitely detract. — 5 months ago
