Steinkaut Rüdesheim Trocken Rheingau Riesling 2015

Wow! Every time I have Riesling trocken I always wonder why I don’t drink more of it. Nose of peach and lime with wet gravel. Palate is more of the nose with a biting acidity of citrus. Beautiful flowers are mixed in with salty wet rocks! Finish lingers for a minute or more. Ideal with food but also a great aperitif. — 7 years ago

Sivi Pinot

Medium bodied with a beautiful color, pale rose with amber hues to the edges. Very perfumed nose, fruit forward, with maybe some underripe passion fruit, raspberry and fresh red berry fruits with maybe some hints of salt and maybe a bit of toffee with mildew like funk around the edges? A tannic palate, mouth drying, with cognac like notes, surprising for how low the ABV is, it retains an alcohol like coolness to the finish. Really a different and interesting under the radar wine. Not orange, but orange like, you cant accurately grade it really because it’s a-typical. — 2 years ago

Kastanienbusch Riesling 2016

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our guest conductor Moritz Gnann is leading WAGNER (Siegfried Idyll), MOZART (Piano Concerto No. 27 in B-flat) with the outstanding Paul Lewis on piano and SCHUMANN (Symphony No. 3, Rhenish).

Peach juice, Lemon zest, wow Lemon oil like I've never tasted before, white flowers crushed in a limestone mortar with a granite pestle, aromas of late Spring rain on new flowers growing in the midst of a granite scree slope whilst someone had been running around squeezing Lemons beforehand, crazy. Looking forward to seeing how this develops in the coming days, too interesting to finish tonight.

24hr Update: Very tropical fruit-ish on the nose, still with lemon, lemon, lemon. The lemon oil notes have backed down on the palate. My wife thinks it's limes, it's definitely lemons, she's crazy.

48hr Update: Acidity and lemon oil characteristics are beginning to subside, probably 30% less than day one, just a stellar bottle!

@Severn Goodwin great note. Sven’s Kastaniembusch is utter madness.

Grauer Burgunder

Interesting story. Bettina was NOT born into a winery family. She is making wine with her friend Am Kaiserstuhl in Baden - Germany. Gorgeous golden color. Skin contact. Super fresh crisp, clean and clear - not an orange wine in that regard. Dried apricots, great balance between acidity and fruit. Touch bing cherry - tannic. — 5 months ago

Geisenheimer Mönchspfad Rheingau Riesling

Ripe apple & apricot with a touch of hay. Vibrant acidity balanced well with ripe fruit and a hint of flinty minerality. Typical Rheingau and ultra drinkable. — 8 years ago
