Set the way back machine to 1996. Brings back memories of their patio, a little vegetal and the red cherry has mostly dropped out but very refined at this point, sill shows well for a 26 year old bottle of wine. Friday night Brisket it worked well to cut the fat. 1996 vintage on September 2, 2022. — 2 years ago
Very special hand-crafted and unique Rosé, elegant, made with Sonoma Chardonnay (98%) adding a kiss of Rutherford Bench Napa Cabernet Sauvignon (2%), and in my opinion far better than the Rosé that herald from southeastern France where some of the best are produced. I have never tasted anything like this previously. Small production, grapes fermented and aged from French white oak wood staves from Allier, Nevers and Tronçais Haute Futaie forests, known for their sought after wood, with tighter grains. Stunning deep orange/salmon color with exceptional depth of fruit brought out by the small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon providing a beautiful fruit/floral character. On the palate layers of subtle extraordinary rich fruit, ripe melon pear with a hint of raspberry and citrus adding vanilla and very light subtle toasty oak, luxurious with a graceful savory freshness. Very well balanced, layered with elegance and persistent length with an ending that comes back with fruit and vanilla spice adding some minerality. Truly outstanding, will continue to improve if you decide to cellar a bit! For me, hard to resist drinking now! Grab a few bottles and give one to your Mother for a special day, before they are gone! I brought this wine to dinner almost as a joke, since I stopped buying the Pisoni PN and trashed this Vintage years ago. To my surprise this turned out to be quite nice with a lot of dark berries and nice smooth finish. There was a lot of wines at the dinner so had a bit leftover. The second day it was okay but developed a bit of vinegar notes on the nose and taste but sill had blackberries and blueberries all around. Have one bottle of the 2011 which I will get to shortly.

Sill tightly wound… several hours decanting required. Strawberries and aged balsamic. Prune, raisin, asphalt, iron, port. Delicious. — 2 years ago
Excellent wine and drinking great with a lot of dried flowers and fruits, mainly raisins/licorice stood out. Very long finish. It seemed to go on and on considering that I opened and decanted about an hour before dinner and was sill drinking great hours later. — a year ago
Apple cider amber with thick day-fog top layer that reduces to snow crystal tam. Mutant duck pond straggling lacing soon becomes window sill insect anatomy graveyard. German beer nose with tinges of orange rinds dried and fresh. Yeasty-haziness gives it green plantain and lightest spearmint marshmallow and artichoke. Damn tasty though, despite its jumble of signals. Jamaican coco bread, rosemary bits, polenta, beer-bitterness that the style usually glosses gives it a nice perspective lemon peel and lime, candied ginger and grapefruit; all low-keyed and harmonious. Lemon bread with poppy. Tasty yeasty baby beastie.

Deep Ruby, evolves with spectrum of aromas, berry fruit, dried herb, complex spice, notes of cocoa dust. Blend: CabSauv/Franc/Merlot/Malbec/PetVerdot. Palate, ripe blackcherry/blackberry flavors, rich tones, subtle oak, espresso/black pepper. Graceful/elegant, displays super fine “dusty” tannins, perfectly balanced, pleasing length, complex ending with fruit/mineral edge. Ultra-premium fruit, world class hand-crafting, limited production exceptional wine. Wonderful now, get better with age. Tasting Sample! — 3 years ago

I preferred Mt Pleasant much better under McWilliams ownership, single vineyard expressions are not as clear cut as they used to be.
1946 Rosehill not as distinct as it used to be.
