Screaming blast of tart lemon acidity. Not very pleasant. Beautiful light yellow with tiny scrubbing bubbles. After about 15-20 minutes a type of weighted creamy mid-palate makes me smile. Way too young, but simply luscious and lifted with a long, caressing finish. — 6 months ago

Simply WOW!! I have now experienced the pleasure of tasting my initial First Growth Bordeaux. Simply unbelievable! 90% Cabernet Sauvignon. Highly aromatic! A lovely nose of violets, pencil shavings, cigar box, and red and black berry fruit. The pallet is red fruit forward with accents of cooked blackberry, and Belgian chocolate. 2018 Disgorgement is on fire tonight, intensely aromatic and simply unmistakable with its infinite layers of spiced red berry fruit, blood orange and chalky minerals that wrap around the palate, with singular texture, weight and density, giving way to a chiseled, vibrant and incredibly long finale. Such is the way of life at López de Heredia, the 2010 Reserva was only released to the market last year, while most bodegas are currently extolling the virtues of their 2019s. Well, as a fan of Viña Tondonia, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the 2010, fabled year that it is, having enjoyed many a superb wine from other producers in this vintage.

Decanted for four hours, this wine is effusive from the glass, with a strikingly darker, richer aromatic profile compared to vintages such as 2007 and 2001, and more in line with 2008 - but better still. The oak provides a generous chocolate- and vanilla-laced bouquet that also has blackcurrants, blueberries, cranberries and kirsch, and bouquet garni. The palate is, predictably, very austere at this primal stage, but again has a richer, more rounded mouthfeel to prior vintages that is simply wonderful. Needless to say, this is a benchmark wine for the region and will age rather well, and what a wine it will be in decades to come.

Simply outstanding. Birth year of my daughter, Paul sent this to me. Traveled with us from NYC to Japan. Cork was a bit problematic. Despite the label notes of timing this was still gong strong. Dusty cherry and dense Christmas pudding nose features baked blueberry and dried red currants with blue spruce, Connecticut cigar wrap, sunflower, marigold and tea. There is ample black pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg and lacquered oak. Silky smooth and incredibly well-integrated layers of aforementioned spices with a surprisingly green tobacco note. Cedar and dried blackberry atop baked raspberry and peppercorn tart. Simply delicious and unwaveringly structured.
