Everything you could want in a village level Côte de Beaune red. Rich, sultry, sappy dark cherry all over the nose. Some gorgeous sous-bois earthiness, a bit of spice. Powerful in the mouth, with a big initial whack of savory cherry and dark minerals. Not super complex but doesn’t skimp. Medium length finish with a little peppery note from the alcohol (14.5%), and decent acids. — 3 years ago
Vintage 2016 | a rather sophisticated Fronsac, with the characteristics of a nobleman. Dark colour. Nice summerfruit in smell. Sultry in taste, especcialy after 24 hours aeration. Beautiful concentration. Good acidity, lively. Classic. Biowine. 90% Merlot, 10% Cab Franc. | Paired with beef tenderloin first day, a vegan salad and cheeses second day. — 4 years ago
Sultry spicy blueberry jam, but not jammy, violet, smoke and black tea. Feral but polished and Pinot like weight. — 5 years ago
This is quite the sultry, voluptuous red. I was a little dismayed to see 16% on the label, but it was actually pretty balanced. Nose has warm sandstone, baking spice, and sweet oozing dark red berries. Full (obviously) in the mouth, with peppery berry fruit and stony minerality in the finish. Went really well with mesquite-grilled porterhouses. — 7 years ago
I’m thinking about starting a Grateful Journal. I’ve heard that writing down things you’re thankful for 5-10 mins before sleep helps you actually get the most from your sleep and also helps you wake up more energized. Tonight, my journal will note how thankful I am for friends who share great wine. @Frank this young beauty is sultry. Like making love on a hot summer’s night with the windows open. Opens with a pleasant earthy musk, meaty and gamey notes, and some fresh herbs, garrigue. Luscious and thicky-thick on the palate (see: Nelly). The red and blue fruits sing in wonderful harmony with the earthy, unadulterated tension just below the surface. Spicy, mineral, savory, and clean fruit all at once. Many years ahead. Perfect way to get in the Christmas spirit! — 8 years ago

Northern Rhône blend that was smoky and surprising. Sultry, too, with a tiny smack of tannin. Perfect with some chill for a summer lift red situation. Very dark in color, not really a light red at all, but drinks like it. Juicy cherry and currant and apple. Wonderful. — 8 years ago
This is a very elegant style of Brunello. Nose has sultry macerated dark cherry, terra cotta tile earthiness, some gorgeous sweet spice notes. In the mouth it’s soft, medium-full, and has some nice complexity. Notes of earthy gravel and porcini mushroom to go along with the rich fruit. Tannins are soft but still provide a nice tactile reference point. Acids are soft. Lengthy finish. — a year ago
Rainy Saturday night at home listening to Lady Blackbird. Smoky, sultry, spellbinding. Fresh, with lots of finesse. Stewed fruits on the nose with hints of minerality. Some spice on the palate. Subtle hints of dried longan.
Blend of Niellucciu, Sciaccarellu, Minustello, Carcaghjolu, and Moresconu. Northwest- and south-facing vineyards on a windswept clay-limestone terroir. The estate has been certified organic since 2002 and the vines have been farmed according to biodynamic principles since 2006. The yield for this cuvée was 25 hl/ha. After hand-harvesting and sorting, the grapes are 100% destemmed and vinified with indigenous yeasts in clay amphorae. The wine is neither fined nor filtered. No SO2 added.
** Note: This wine will benefit from some time to breathe prior to drinking. **
“A rich, intense nose with notes of ripe fruit and spices. The palate has great volume, finesse and freshness – a pure and balanced wine. The amphora, this ancient vessel of winemaking, has been mastered to perfection by Canarelli.” Cave Pur Jus — 3 years ago
Old vines Sancerre and Kamala! A winning combination! The wine’s nose has loads of intense, limestoney minerality, and zesty gooseberry fruit, ripe enough to give off a hint of tropicality. A bit of green gage (is that one word or two?). Perfect on a sultry August evening to accompany pecan-grilled haddock fillets. Here’s to November 3! — 6 years ago

Textured and slightly turbid, still a little closed on the nose. Delightful. Waxy and bright, round across the palate, enticing and sultry on the finish. — 7 years ago

Massive, sultry, obviously not fully integrated yet, but killa! — 8 years ago
The description: The sweetly frivolous and fruity side of Central Otago Pinot Noir is bound up in this bottle of Stolen Kiss Rosé; once unleashed into your glass its candy-floss and crème-brûlée aromas shall sashay into a flirtatious toffee-apple and simmering strawberry palate smeared with cherry lip-gloss; most fun to drink chilled on sultry summer afternoons and evenings.
The opinion: Accurate and very good. Stolen Kiss is somewhat variable but 2022 and 2023 is very good. Summer afternoon with a well chilled bottle, can’t go wrong. — 3 years ago
Sultry, deep dark black raspberry, mocha, clove, and anise. Complimentary lifted eucalyptus, almost minty aromas too. Dark berry, French oak scents, tobacco, and black peppercorns dance on the palate. At 15.5% the alcohol doesn’t show, but this is rich and opulent. Perfect for a ribeye or fireside night cap. Drink or hold. — 4 years ago
Agree with previous assessment: “sultry” — 5 years ago
The 2015 'Y' from Chateau D’YQuem is a head turning, simply brilliant blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. The Sauvignon Blanc is harvested rather early in the growing season to retain its freshness, while the Semillon is given more time to mature and allow botrytis to take effect. The wine itself displays a lovely golden hue, and begins with an exotic bouquet consisting of star jasmine, honeydew melon, starfruit and lemongrass aromatics which all take shape. On the palate this possesses remarkable tension and viscosity, which is truly one of a kind as the mouthfeel takes on a sultry, unctuous character as lemon cream, kumquat, cantaloupe and roasted pineapple flavors all come together beautifully. It continues to impress with its gorgeous seamless quality and balance while showcasing the ripeness and intensity of the vintage. While this is already showing trememdous appeal it should go on to age exceedingly well over the course of the next two plus decades. This is a absolute gem from the legendary Château. Nose gives off sultry and low-toned scents of cracked dark stones, a note of iodine, and smoky crushed dark blackberry. Mouthfilling, soft, and with broad swaths of dark minerality. Very savory, with a clingy tactile quality. I swear, the basaltic rocks and silt in Walla Walla really do unique things to grapes grown there. So good. — 8 years ago

It may be 20 years old but it was still sultry and sublime. Merry Christmas 🎄 — 6 months ago
