Isle Huon Valley Pinot Noir 2022

Delectable, this was the Intrigue Pinot Noir by Chatto, not in your database. We tasted this after the Home Hill Reserve Pinot Noir that I brought along. All wines tasted blind. Compared to the luscious Home Hill this was very stalky showing a high percentage of whole bunch. Smoked and earthy aromas together with savoury dark cherry. Great winemaking on show from Jim Chatto. In Mick’s Cellar last Saturday. — 4 months ago

Home Hill

Estate Tasmania Pinot Noir 2017

A voluptuous Pinot Noir. Aromatic red fruits - cherry and strawberry. Love these Pinots from the Huon Valley and Home Hill in particular. Possibly the most southerly vineyard in Australia. — a year ago

Tamar Ridge

The Devil's Corner Chardonnay 2021

Clean, crisp and flavorful - a bit riper than Chablis but very much a cool climate Wine; this has green apple, green pear, acacia, flint and wet stone, and a bright bit of herbal greenery in the background. There is more body here than in Chablis with a hint of creaminess on the palate. Really enjoyable, a food-lover’s wine. Grilled lobster, steamed shrimp, fried chicken, the possibilities are endless. — 2 years ago

Home Hill

Kelly's Reserve Tasmania Pinot Noir 2017

Rich and luscious - ripe red and black fruits. It’s a funny thing how full bodied this wine is which comes from one of the most southerly (cold) vineyards (Huon Valley Tasmania) in Australia. We visited there a few years ago and had lunch. Medium to full bodied with sweet black cherry flavours but I might have gotten the Food/wine match wrong - too floral and pretty perhaps to go with venison. I should have chosen Syrah or a GSM - an excellent wine nevertheless. — 5 months ago

Pinot Noir 2018

Notes of Toffee Apple initially - a little reductive to begin with. Pale dirty crimson - transparent in parts - quite Burgundian in colour. A light to medium weight palate but Medium intensity. Like a good Village, verging on Premier Cru. Interesting and tasty but needing about 4 or 5 years more to develop complexity. Jim Chatto is regarded as one of Australia’s best winemakers having been in charge at Mt Pleasant in the Hunter Valley and now running his own show in Tasmania. — 2 years ago

Tolpuddle Vineyard

Tasmania Pinot Noir 2014

Medium Ruby in colour although a transparency to the colour. A varnishy red fruited nose - a very aromatic and attractive perfume. Earlier in its life the whole bunch influence poked out a little too much but generally a great balance with the pristine cool climate Coal River Valley fruit. See previous 2 notes here on Delectable. My last 2014 but I do have a 2013 which I will have next year when 10 years old. — 3 years ago

Pooley

Coal River Valley Pinot Noir 2018

Very identifiable as Tasmanian Pinot - this one from the Coal River and the high performing Pooley Wines. Last tasting note here was way back 153 weeks ago. Red fruited - drinking this early in its drinking window. Light to medium weight - lovely Tassie purity. Fine tannins. — a year ago

Smoky meat of a nose

Medium bodied with bright cranberry, pomegranate, spicy, with snappy jolly rancher acidity.
Lovely.
That smoked thing reminds me of Tasmania Pinots..
