This is such an amazing wine. What a nose. Grapey and I mean grapey but also an insane cola element that is not joking. Unreal herbals. The nose also has crystalline black fruits and almost a pastille quality. Wow. Stunning. Also smoke and mesquite bbq. 9.6 nose on the PNP. Stunning palate and needs air but my goodness this is better than any Moric ever. Stunning purity, clarity and depth. Unreal sweetness and such terrific freshnessx My goodness the energy here is off the charts and the deliciousness factor is un-fuck-withable. So balanced. This will open and it’s a 9.6 out of the gates. Blown away. Unreal concentration and juiciness. This is genius. — a day ago

Nose is very very deep here. A bit mute but gorgeous and so so pretty. High toned cherry, raspberry, cranberry and sour cherry. So aromatic, even when somewhat muted. Wow. Wow. Wow. That palate is crazy. Unreal velvety tannins and superb depth and concentration. Very Vosne like with gorgeous purity. Darker fruits on the palate. Black cherry but mixed with sour cherry as wells. The nose will need some time. Super grippy and the sweetness of the fruit is out of control. This is such an amazing wine. While obviously young this is like a German Vosne 1er Cru. Can’t wait to see when this opens. Nose has opened a bit but this will be a slow unraveling. But man that palate is just devastating. So silky and velvety with just superb concentration and supple, seductive fruit. Almost a 9.7. — 2 months ago

Very Chambolle like. Red fruits and flowers. Savory and also gamey as well with stunning purity. Lithe and silky. Sweet and deep. Palate is elegant and nimble in a red riesling style. This needs air big time as the nose starts off maybe 10% too herbal for me. But it also has nutmeg, voluminous spice, mid season cherry fruit and intense minerality. Really clear and vivid aromas. Wow what a palate. Exquisite balance and freshness and so much sweet and tart fruit. Unreal inner mouth aromas. Wow that sweetness is sick. Brilliant velvety and sweet tannins. This is brilliant! That herbal note is gone after 5 minutes and now this is a Mugneret-Gibourg clone but nervier. The density and concentration and the inner mouth florals (violets) are insane. This is brilliant. 9.6 now but can go higher. An hour in this is a 9.7 nose. Dizzying spice. Luscious cherry fruit. Amazing perfume. Just insane. Palate is so good. High honed but sweet like mid season perfectly ripe cherries. What a finish. Just a knockout. — 23 days ago

Needs a 90 minute decant. An 8/10 on open.

Nose: some vegetal. Blackberry flower. Cherry. A. hint of miraculousness . Almost like great old bordeuax. Distinctive. Especially for a syrah. Peeking pink roses. Vegetal declines over time.

Palate: silky cherry fruit. Sooo silky.

Really stunning nose. Gamey, meaty, Chambertin like. Very aromatic and very pretty. Gorgeous and insane vivid cherries. Really top notch clarity here. Just incredible. Gorgeous red fruits. 12.5%. Wonderful. Super juicy and pure. So fresh and just bursting with ripe acidity. Sweet fruit but edgy and so fresh. Long and tangy. Very very pure. Excellent ripe tannins. Amazing energy. I tasted these 22’s this summer in barrel and now Achim sent me a couple samples and they are just insane. This vintage for Achim is one of the best I have tasted across the board from anybody in Germany. Stunning nose of red cherry fruit, glorious spice and citrus peel (tangelo, blood orange, mineola orange), minerals and gorgeous wet earth. The spice is just glorious and next level. Wowzers. It’s so fine and so pointed. Palate is just insane. This is an all time bottle of wine here. Unreal acids. Cleansing. So juicy and fresh with astonishing purity and depth. Nimble yet concentrated and never forced. Young and needs mega air but the bones of an elite wine are here. This is the purest Achim wine I have ever had. This will keep opening and I will be back. As this airs the fruit is even sweeter. Just tiny berry explosions. Now the nose has shifted into a higher gear. Unreal perfume. Feral as well. Heavenly. Wow the acid and sweet and sour fruit is stunning. Such sap on the finish. Epic. — 2 months ago

Nose: major lychee.

Palate: lychee. Hint of honey. Mineral sweetness. Delicious.

This is what most NZ sauvignon blanc would taste like if it didn’t suck.
