Presqu'ile Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018

This is great right now. I feel Ernst’s red wines hit a nice spot in 5-7 years. Good fruit with raspberries, earth, baking spices, red apple, some earth. Lovely — 17 days ago

Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2009

Light body and easy to drink. It had a touch of that wooly meaty character that I enjoy in a Syrah. — 5 months ago

Presqu'ile Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2023

One of the best makers of sauv blanc in Santa Barbara county. Great balance, lemons, grass, minerals, tangerine, passion fruit, saline, honeysuckle, but this is clean. Outstanding this year! — a year ago

Vrede Pinot Noir 2020

Nice New World type of Pinot Noir from South Africa. Excellent with pizza. Crunchy tannins and lots of fruit. Not elegant but an excellent example of this type of Pinot Noir. — a month ago

Santa Ynez Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Grapefruit upfront, and on the mid pallet finishes with a slight hint of minerals. Very impressive for the his being a 23 vintage. — 6 months ago

John Sebastiano Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017

This wine is just getting good. A lot of baking spice, apple, dried herbs, cranberry, kind of like Thanksgiving sans turkey and potatoes. Really opens after 90 minutes of air. Outstanding — 9 months ago

Luna Matta Nebbiolo 2008

Well, glad I kept this for another 6 years to see how it evolved. Cork was in amazing shape. Brick red. Almost tawny in glass. Dried flowers and herbs on the nose. Not a lot of fruit on the nose. Palate is more dried flowers, roses, leather, the faintest touch of pouch tobacco, plums, dried fig, maybe persimmon. It dries the mouth with tannin and acidity. Definitely secondary flavors starting. Probably the best wine deal I’ve ever had for this type of quality. Wish I had one more to try in 2028. — 8 months ago
