Whining and Wine-ing: How Every Astrological Sign is Quarantining

How are you spending your time while social distancing? We’ve gathered information from the stars, and based on the qualities of the twelve zodiac signs, we are sharing how each sign is spending their extra time at home and what they are drinking during these activities. No matter the month, the sign, or the element, there is an activity and wine for you. Cheers! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Aries (March 21 – April 19) First up, our fiery Aires. They’re bold, stubborn, hot-headed, confident, and if you’ve asked any of them for advice during this quarantine, they’ve definitely given you an honest answer. They’ve also scolded you at least twice for not washing your hands long enough. Have you had game night in your household yet? Aries are incredibly competitive and are spending this time trying to earn the title of “Winner of All Board Games We Have in the House ”. Open a bottle of Malbec and get ready for a riveting competition. Taurus (April 20 – May 20) Ruled by Venus, this earth sign gives off a calming and relaxed air, yet when they set their mind on something, they become workaholics and don’t stop until the job is done. Has the Taurus in your life gotten really into baking or cooking recently? During their down time, our Taurus friends are leisurely scrolling through blogs and Instagram accounts to find the recipe that catches their eye. Once they are set on perfecting a recipe, nothing can stop them. Grab a glass of Burgundy to pair with their meal and to drink while helping them clean all the dishes. Gemini (May 21 – June 20) Ten missed FaceTime calls and five unread messages? That’s right, it’s probably a Gemini checking in for the third time that day because they’re bored and need someone to entertain them. Geminis are playful and love to socialize. They’re also great at keeping a conversation going. Did you just talk to them that morning? They’re calling again to let you know what they made for lunch, but no worries, they have the thoroughly entertaining ability to make a story about lunch last about half an hour longer than you would expect. Grab a Riesling and settle in for Gemini story time. Cancer (June 21 – July 22) Hello to our first water sign! Cancers take pride in creating a space they feel comfortable living, creating, and being in. Home improvement projects are what the crab of the zodiac has been focusing on while at home. If you’ve woken up with the living room completely rearranged or heard the sound of a hammer late at night, you’re likely living with a Cancer who is trying to make the space they spend the most time in as comfy and homey as they possibly can. They’re also likely to be impulsively ordering items online to add to their home. In-between projects and waiting for their newest delivery to arrive, they’re sipping on a glass of Rioja . Leo (July 23 – August 22) Have you Googled any of your Leo friends lately? Because they have most definitely started their own wine YouTube channel. Leos love the spotlight, are natural born leaders, and are probably yearning for the attention they normally would get in a room full of people. How do they combat this? They grab that Bordeaux from their cellar, pop it open, and press record because these entertainers won’t let social distancing keep them from their fans. Virgo (August 23 – September 22) Step aside because the rulers of logic have arrived. Virgos are natural problem solvers and get a real sense of achievement after completing or helping others complete tasks. Have you been invited to multiple virtual get togethers lately? Double-check the host’s birthday because they’re probably a Virgo. Virgos are busy organizing video chats, video cocktail hours, virtual movie nights, and more to stay connected with all their loved ones. They’ve also been pushy about trying this new Pinot Noir they won’t stop talking about, but hey, we forgive them because they overanalyze everything and are probably recommending a great bottle. Libra (September 23 – October 22) Represented by the scale, harmony and balance are the two magic words Libras love to hear. If they’re stuck at home with a large group of friends or family, they’ve probably taken on the role as the household mediator. In addition to making sure tensions don’t rise too high, they’ve taken up painting or some sort of crafting in their free time. Libras are suckers for a good aesthetic and new art pieces. To accompany them in their mediating sessions and art breaks, Libras are popping some chilled Champagne . Scorpio (October 23 – November 21) Who’s ready for 20 Questions? Scorpios are known for their passion and intensity. Those surrounded by Scorpios at this time need to get ready for endless conversations. Scorpios are intuitive and pride themselves on knowing those around them fairly well, but that won’t stop them from getting to know you even more! Whether they’re texting you or talking to you in person, Scorpios are drinking a glass of Syrah while finding out your life story. Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21) Let’s talk about a sign with all the energy! The last of our fire signs, Sagittarius friends are always on the move because one activity or subject does not hold their attention for very long. Whether they are dancing around their home, going on frequent walks, or moving their work station to a different room based on the hour, this sign is making sure to keep moving no matter what. Those with this sign have probably taken on a few different hobbies as well just to keep things interesting. They love the sweet things in life, so they’re moving about with a Moscato in hand. Capricorn (December 22 – January 19) Capricorns love structure, so if they’re not committing themselves to an established routine, then they are likely starting a new side project and giving it their undivided attention. Capricorns are so disciplined and resourceful that they can at times come off as know-it-alls, so they’ve 100% started a Podcast show about their favorite topic. When they take a break from this new project, they are nurturing their relationships over a class of Cabernet Sauvignon . Aquarius (January 20 – February 18) Have you heard from your Aquarius friends? Have they changed their name and used this time to completely reinvent their identity? Aquarians can sometimes appear distanced or detached, and time spent social distancing from friends is making them itch to begin something new. However, if you are stuck at home with an Aquarius, your days are never boring and are most likely filled with glasses of Sauvignon Blanc . Aquarians are known for being the humanitarian sign and are using this opportunity to bring attention to the causes that need help. If you’re looking for an entertaining conversation and resources to help during the time, give this air sign a call! Pisces (February 19 – March 20) That friend or family member who’s been taking extra long showers lately? Yeah, they’re probably a Pisces. Often caught between fantasy and reality, Pisces are spending their time social distancing by diving into all the movie, book, and any entertainment recommendations they can find. As a creative sign, Pisces are also spending this time testing out original works. Whether it be writing, music related, or any other art form, Pisces are escaping into fantasy in any way they can with a glass of Rosé in hand. To all of the Healthcare professionals and Essential Workers working during this time, no matter your Zodiac sign, we extend our greatest thanks for all that you are doing!

Kevin Judd Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2018

A very good entry level Sauv. Blanc from Kevin Judd. Grassy, lemon peels and fresh cut herbs. It is not as complex as the open vat wild fermented Sauvignon from the same producer but really nice summary fresh steely flavours. Clearly one of the top producers from Marlborough. — 4 years ago

Domaine Gérard Julien et Fils

Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2017

Drank this during the CellarTracker Virtual Burgundy Tasting last night via Zoom. My first experience with any of the wines of Domaine Julien. This was a pop and pour situation and I wished I had given it more airtime because this was suuuuuuper primary and tightly coiled. Loads of tart, wild alpine strawberries, like the Smultron you find in a Scandinavian forest, taking center stage. Tongue pricking acidity. Beyond that, there isn’t much more at this stage in development. However, the purity is beyond typical for a humble Bourgogne and a few years in the cellar would do this a great service. I expect better things when the tannins better integrate and secondary characteristics begin to appear. Drink with an extended decant or hold until 2025. — 4 years ago

Happy Spring! It’s one of our favorite points in the year. More; daylight, a little warmer in CA and everything starts to bloom which, means a long summer of gardening and being outdoors every day/night is not far off.

Since it was such a great day and basically most Californians are shut-Ins, the voluntary self quarantining was getting to me. I did the landscaping and got an afternoon of fresh air today. A breath of fresh air...ahhh! Wow, was it needed after Gavin’s Newsom’s estimate of 25.5 million Californians would be infected with Coronavirus over 8 weeks yesterday.

So, a good night to celebrate another day of being virus free with my 2nd favorite N/V Rosé Champagne.

All my numerous previous notes apply.

Stay safe everyone and remember the new terminology of the new decade...social distancing! Cheers! 🍾🥂

Domaine Méo-Camuzet

Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2008

I’ve owed Delectable some posts for a while now....and we need community now more than ever and Delectable has always been a positive, supportive community...so I’m jumping back in. I’m about 300 wines behind but I’m going to work backward starting with the wines I’ve enjoyed the last few weeks during this period of relative isolation. I’m calling this series “Loving Wine in the Time of Corona” as a nod to my boy Gabriel Garcia Marquez who was also a big time wine guy......this bottle is from our first Zoom tasting with the local wine group @romo @Steve Anderson @Michael Meyer @Matthew Beckman @Vickie Beuerle @Dan Blackwell on 3/14. Pinot theme. The Meo was youthful and pure, so much depth, concentration and lively red fruit. Good times with great people. — 4 years ago

Why is uploading multiple wines important?

@romo some people find it easier to upload multiple images and notes at once. Especially if you taste a bunch of wines together, in one setting

Yes it’s far superior than the old days of loading each photo individually @Antonio Galloni 🙏

Crozes-Hermitage Syrah 2015

A producer who’s Crozes I have purchased a case of every year since 09. Excellent QPR that ages well. This was elegant & floral showing notes of black cherry, raspberry, crushed rock, olive, pepper, smoke & violet. — 4 years ago

Viña Tondonia Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2005

Had a bottle over a year ago, grabbed another out of my cellar. Nice Ruby red with an elegant bouquet of ripe berry fruits, spice with earthy tones, a traditional Rioja. On the palate, the wine was silky smooth with layers of flavors, berry/cherry, tobacco, smoky cedar, dark fruit, vanilla spice, very well balanced with fine tannins and a clean structure ending with a nice lingering finish. Aging well! Delicious! — 4 years ago

Bryant Family Vineyard

Proprietor Grown Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Been breaking out some fun wines deep from the cellar to keep spirits HIGH during the stay at home Cali mandate. Day 10 is no exception......time for dinosaur steaks and a 2009 Bryant Family!!

Decanted 1 hour. An arresting deep dark garnet color(lots of cloudy sediment). On the nose: caught me completely off guard with stewed meat, black olives, band aids, some licorice, red berries, and floral. Taste: Wow, this is singing "Stairway to Heaven " ....no garage band version, this is Led Zeppelin 1970s!! Dark cherries, chocolate, espresso, tobacco.
A Mark Aubert beauty with fine, silky tannins coating the mouth. An elegant, rich, soft wine with a long toffee/blueberry finish

Concreto Mendoza Malbec 2018

9.3

Malbec. Deep purple rim, black core. Spices and violets on the nose. From calceous soils in the Valle de Uco at 1100m close to the mountains. Whole cluster fermentation and aged in concrete egg shaped vats to optimally preserve the fruit. No oak. Young but drinking well already. Will surely benefit from a few years cellaring. For now93+

Château Bolaire

Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Home-isolation pandemic angst and impatience drove me to open this wine perhaps a few years early as the 2016s are said to have aging potential. Even somewhat young this #bordeauxsuperior hailing from #hautmedoc delivers elegance at a great price. Cassis, some violet and graphite - classic layers from #petitverdot. I love PV and this Château blends 50% with 30% #merlot and 20% #cabernetsauvignon . In the mouth there’s juicy acidity, fresh blackberry and good power in the tannins. Found it at Costco a while ago for less than $15; talk about great QPR - should have picked up half a case at this price. — 4 years ago
