Pago de los Capellanes

Tinto Reserva Ribera del Duero Tempranillo Blend 2017

John W
9.1

Dark ruby coloration. On the nose, dark cherry, dark berry, dark chocolate, espresso bean, vanilla, leather, earth and minerals. On the palate, rich, full bodied, cherry, currants, vanilla, chocolate, florals, and a long floral finish. A slight bitterness on the palate. — 2 years ago

Marvellous wine!!

Sandlands

Amador County Chenin Blanc 2019

Popped and poured. The 2019 Amador County is energy in a bottle. Deep straw bordering light golden color. Medium viscosity. Medium+ intensity. Generous fruit with bright notes of yellow apple, quince, passion fruit, white flowers, ginger, and persimmon. On the palate, the wine is dry with ripping acid. Confirmed the tart yellow apples which are joined by San Pellegrino-like minerals and lanolin. A wine of lovely texture. The finish is long and immensely satisfying. This is my favorite Sandlands Chenin to-date; checking off so many boxes. — 2 years ago

Glenelly Estate

Estate Reserve Stellenbosch Chardonnay 2019

Like the story behind this wine. Female owned winery. Light citrus-like flavor with slight fruit notes- peach. One reviewer said crisp, I agree. — 2 years ago

Foradori

Dolomiti Teroldego 2019

Maybe my favorite vintage of this wine so far. Inky as always. Violets and loads of just barely ripe but still tart black & blue fruit: blackberry, black currant, black plum, black cherry, blueberry, with a subtle smoke/incense quality. Racy acid. Cashmere tannins. Really pretty stuff. — 2 years ago

Reading your notes invariably makes me hungry.

Coltibuono

Badia a Coltibuono Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2018

Black Cherry, red fruit, herbs with smooth gently integrated tannins. I could not help myself from reaching the bottom of this bottle. A pan-roasted Veal Chop with Rosemary, Garlic, & Sage took me to Tuscany! Beautiful and a most satisfying pairing. — 2 years ago

Château Cos d'Estournel

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 1982

Back to 1982 and a stunning Cos d’Estournel. Beautiful old claret with tons of character - tobacco, cedar and blue fruits on the nose. Tannins completely resolved and notes of blue fruits, tobacco and hoisin rounded out the palate. Really special as always to open an 82. — 2 years ago

Medium body, medium tannins, fruit forward and well balanced acidity. Black pepper, black currant, red raspberry, and black cherry. Fantastic wine, so smooth and a great pair with so many different foods! — 2 years ago
