Domaine Vincent Ledy

"Les Beaumonts" Chorey-Les-Beaune Pinot Noir 2017

Lyle Fass
9.3

This is the best Chorey. I will fight you over that. Unreal nose. Just the cleanest and most expansive cherry fruit ever. Massive earth tones, massive mineral and so so expansive. Utterly classic as well as Ledy is as classic as it gets but also is such a clean and skilled winemaker that it’s not a dirty classicism. Juicy, young, sappy and so so pure. Amazing depth and so so clean. Just ultra clean. Pure and the best balance. He is the master of under $40 red burgs. And under $30 when tariffs actually go away. Amazingly compact fruit and such length, suavity and a hidden structure for this to age so well. — 4 years ago

Château Poujeaux

Moulis en Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

Very impressed by both wines I’ve had from this Chateau in the last year. Drinks way above its price. Cassis, black fruits, pencil lead, good structure for aging. — 4 years ago

Domaine Faury

Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2018

I really do love this wine. It hasn’t failed me yet! It is middle of the road high at around $65, but delicious & worth it! — 4 years ago

Aurora Carricante 2018

I carricante believe how delicious this is at the price. (Pun credit to @Adriana Fabbro). Pale yellow, toasty nuts, lemon zest, honey, dried flowers and hay on the nose, palate is viscous and honeyed but with searing acidity, lemon and chalk, green apple, melon, peach, smoky sage on the back. Just got a couple in and opened one just for the halibut. — 4 years ago

Domaine Leflaive

Mâcon-Verzé Chardonnay 2018

Lit! Walks the fine line between Chablis and Chardonnay with a flinty nose and bright citrus flavors. Almond and butter add to the mouthfeel on a long crisp finish. Will revisit after this has had a few years to settle. — 4 years ago

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Oh baby, it's Sauv Blanc time again in Texas! The temp climbed over 75° and that was all I needed.

Pale gold color with a hint of green. Fresh, tart, crisp, passionfruit, pear, green apple. Really well balanced, doesn't grip too tight, with a lingering, pleasant finish. I'm a happy camper.

Muchada Léclapart

Elixir Palomino - Muscat Blend 2017

Lovely dance of old vine palomino & moscatel. Full-bodied, medium acidity. Sweetness from the muscat buttressed by saline texture, minerality, star anise, white flowers. Beautiful work. — 4 years ago
