The 2012 vintage really showcases the brilliance of López de Heredia in a challenging, dry year. Deep garnet with brick hues at the rim; lovely aromas of red cherries and red currants, coffee, spiced cedar, leather, and light oak on the nose; great red and black fruit on the palate, plus earthy notes, dried herbs, and silky and well integrated tannins; and a long, elegant finish with a perfect balance of fruit and acids.

Orange , onion skin in colour. Orange rind , spices, vanilla, roasted nuts, seaside hints . On the palate intense and with high acidity , lemon and orange rind, caramel hints . Long and complex on the finish , very balanced. I would imagine this is in its drinking window , and will continue to drink well for a further 5-8 years — 9 days ago

Excellent Zin with a lot of fruits; blackberries, cranberries and some dark cherries. Also, spice, cedar and more. Did not know what to expect as Zin’s don’t go for a lot of aging. Happy I found this one in my cellar and have a couple of other Ridge wines I need to drink up.
