Leithaberg DAC Blaufränkisch 2022

(While the pic is of this makers Chard review is for the Blaufrankish); Probably the darkest & most savory expression of Blaufrankish I’ve ever tried, & it works: black cherry & kirsch color, dense; on nose pretty open knit raspberry & black currants; the blacks currants, raspberry, & also kirsch/ beet notes on palate, with a pleasant chewy texture. For 24$ on sale a whole lotta wine, imagine the relatively long aging prerelease- over 3 years in amphorae etc -probably helped. — 10 days ago

Les Charmes Meursault 1er Cru Chardonnay 2015

2015 is showing wonderfully. Youthful reduction, concentrated and textural palette with both richness and definition and racy acids driving everything home. In a wonderful spot, but if this particular bottle is any indication, this is still young. Last sips were the best! — 4 months ago

Les Tillets Meursault Chardonnay 2017

2024/7/12-14. I’ve really missed drinking Jobard’s wines. Opening with toasty lemon tart, this reveals a wide, spicy bouquet and a remarkably savory, saline mineral palate. — 6 months ago

Blackberry pie with slightly chewy tannins. Mouth coating with smooth finish. This is a winner. TBL — a month ago

Pannobile Zweigelt/Blaufrankisch Blend

Starts off fruity but has a whack of tannins as it opens. A very fun and delicious Austrian wine. — 2 months ago

Carco Patrimonio Nielluccio 2020

Really a very nice Corsican red. I believe the grape is the local version of Sangiovese. Has some very different purple flowers and herbal notes, but still the great tension and acid. Delicious and interesting. — 5 months ago

Les Plantes aux Bois Côte de Nuits-Villages Pinot Noir 2016

Still a little closed, needs some time or significant air but tremendous purity and whole cluster structure, red fruit driven with rose petals, wet earth and leaves, a touch of smoke and stony limestone character aplenty — 8 months ago
