Englishman Jonathan Maltus (of La Dome) Napa project. Nose shows blackcurrant, plum, cassis, pencil shavings, and clove with a herbaceous undertone. Juicy with medium to full body. Velvety tannins. Stylish, but lacking a bit of depth and complexity. — 11 days ago
Drinking very well right now (2024). Critics said to drink up but I found it still having strong fruit balancing the dirt. Reminded me of some lovely aged Bordeaux I've had in the past. I'd enjoy now or over the next few years if you're lucky enough to have any bottles. Cheers! — a month ago
Drinking gr8 with 1+ hr of decanting. — 2 days ago
The last time I had this was at The French Laundry trying to convince someone to support a nonprofit I love. The subsequent gift was generous but, somehow, underwhelming. This wine is like that. A great vintage, a great vineyard, in great hands, but it had so much more potential. I’m not whining about a 97-point wine; I’m lucky to enjoy it. But it could’ve been even more. — a month ago
Very nice. Pencil graphite blackberry but a bit thin. — 14 days ago

Blue and black fruits. A lot of density and terroir. This took about 5 hours decanting and in the glass to fully open up.
Excellent pairing for steak. Robust wine that turned super smooth.
Went head to head with ‘15 Caymus SS and IMO beat it out handily. — 2 months ago

Dare I coin a phrase for this 2018 wine? Hedonistic. Over the top but well done. — 2 days ago
