Took 3 hours and was unforgiving when initially opened but then at 3 hours it was heavenly. Just classy beyond belief and a pillow on your palate with incredible fruit. Elite finesse and had that X factor. It was better than an 08 Roumier Les Cras that I had a sip of. I think I’d wait 2-3 more years on these or decant for 3 hours. — 3 years ago
I’ve been fortunate to have tried a few vintages of Scarecrow, but have never had the opportunity to sit down and simply enjoy a bottle from start to finish. I acquired this 2012 with that exact intention (and also to share with my father-in-law, who is the reason I have a passion for wine).
A hallmark for Scarecrow (in my opinion) is a weightless gravitas. How Celia can craft a Cabernet that is consistently so elegant and supremely balanced is beyond me. 2012, being an excellent Napa vintage, and entering its 10yr age had me thinking this would be pop and pour…wrong! Lots of youthful exuberance here. More red/black than purple in the glass. Slightly high toned dark-berry fruits, currant, floral notes (violets) and graphite. The entry and mid-palate again have this gorgeous weight…added notes of dark cocoa and espresso, but mostly a balanced core of dark fruits. The finish sports quite a grip (even after two hours), but it sure was fun to still taste the wine almost 30 seconds later! Decant 2hrs if opening now, or hold for another 5-7yrs to enjoy this type of profile. — 3 years ago

1997 Jones Family, the year prior to TRB taking the helm and yet still a fantastic Napa vintage that is singing.
For me, this is classically styled Napa Cabernet. This is still not descending. Has another 5-8 years of good drinking and perhaps beyond.
Showing dark, meaty, dry, velvety tannins. Dark currants-blackberries, black raspberries, black plum skin, raspberries, plum pudding, chocolate mousse/cake, caramel, mocha powder, dark spice, dry top soil, dry, crushed rocks, anise, cinnamon stick, nutmeg, clove, vanillin, used leather, graphite, dry stone, volcanic clay, withering, dark, red, purple flowers, excellent round acidity and a well made, balanced, nicely tensioned, elegant finish that lasts two-minutes and falls onto earth & spice. — 10 months ago

Though a bit young, this expressive Brunello has hints of licorice, floral, lavender and mother Earth. Will show very well in about 2 years for at least a decade beyond that. It's also great value of you can find it — 5 years ago
Reddish in color with light intensity.
Nice and elegant nose of red fruits with chocolate notes.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with cherries, red currants, earth, light wood, spices and coffee.
Medium plus on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This young, 4 year old Barolo, is already drinking nicely, even by itself.
Well balanced and elegant.
This 2020 vintage was great for Barolo, and is very approachable right now. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years and beyond.
I've had the 2015 vintage a few years ago, and this vintage is drinking better. Complex with a soft mouthfeel.
Good right out of the bottle and better with some airtime. A good sipping wine, and will pair nicely with food too.
A blend from three different Nebbiolo Vineyards in Serralunga d'Alba. Aged in large oak barrels for 2 years.

Penfolds reds like this age at glacial pace even from a not so great vintage like 2007. Not much change after 5 years. Red and black fruits- choc/mocha - good concentration - tannins starting to soften after 18 years. Could keep cellaring up to 2030 and beyond. — 6 months ago
