This is a substantial wine with lots of depth and complexity. A field blend, the 2013 Pagani Heritage is nearly black in the glass with a musty nose of dark berries and dried fruit. It’s still rich with drying and framing tannins, berry, mocha and earth. Ten years on it is still a heavyweight. — 7 days ago

Revisiting 2019 a few years on since first tasting it. It’s a nearly black wine, with plums and minerals on the nose. Maintains its mouth-filling fruit and graphite notes with drying tannins and a zippy raspberry acid in the finish. Big and delicious still. — 8 months ago

Perfect wine to celebrate the wife’s birthday this last week. Medium garnet red and clear in appearance. Well rounded nose with truffles, damp earthiness, cherries and some black berries. Medium tannins (5.5/10), balanced acidity and medium plus body. Balanced palate with tobacco, leather, earthiness, black plums and cherries. Long finish. Drink till 2027. — 3 years ago

On the palate flavors of blackberry, plum and black cherry with toasty oak, cacao and espresso. Fine soft tannins, long finish ending with fruit, oak and sweet pepper spice. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits and some herb notes, mostly Cab Sauv with small amounts of Merlot, Cab Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec, aged 16 months in 44% new French oak. On the palate flavors of blackberry and black cherry with sweet spice, cedar and notes of cacao. A consistent wine and a good value. Medium+ finish, fine tannins, well balanced ending with fruit , toasty oak and herb tobacco spice. — 2 years ago

Aged Yolo County Tannat. With a whimsical name. Dark color with a rusty edge. Smells a bit funky. Spike of berry liquor. Hint of wood chips. Flavors are very heavy on the black currant with a hint of plummy-ness. Might be a bit past perfection. Not as much as much tannin and funk as some Tannat, but has plenty of style. Drinks a bit like a French wine. Wonder who is using these grapes now that Rockwall is out of business? — 7 months ago
