Bonneau Du Martray

Bonneau du Martray

Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay 2011

Pop and pour. A majestic pale straw color. On the nose: Intense nose of green apple, lemon curd, pear, floral, orange rind. Taste: oily, fresh wine with white peach, apple, lemon, saline, crushed rock, grapefruit. YUM! More time to go, glad to have a few more bottles. — 10 hours ago

Les Feuillées Côte de Brouilly Gamay

Surprisingly good fruit and balanced tannins in 2024 for the 2018 vintage. Substantially better than when drunk two years earlier. $24. — 9 months ago

Caton Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Smooth, soft tannins, something that could still sit for another few years or consumed now with a great smile. — 3 years ago

Domaine de Montille

Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Chardonnay 2014

A beauty. Needs a decant prior to consumption. A more linear style. Not fat and rich like Bonneau du Martray. — a year ago

Domaine Leflaive

Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 1986

Medium gold in color, slightly darker than the 86 Bonneau du Martray next to it. Heavy in the glass. Sweet floral nose. Notes of sweet kiwi fruit, lemon curd, apple cider and white acacia flowers. Lacked acidity at first but with many hours of air this powered up. Last sip was the best. I preferred the other whites to this, but was happy to see this improve so much during the evening. We discussed this being Vincent Leflaive’s last vintage, and sadly this was the last bottle in my cellar of 86 Leflaive. (Bday 4 of 12) — 4 years ago
