Sandhi Wines

Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir

Light to medium garnet/ruby color. Aromas of red berries, wild herbs, baking spices and earth. Blend of strawberry, sour cherry, pomegranate, cranberry, raspberry along with some dark berry fruit on the palate. There are also notes of salami, black tea and dried herbs. Medium bodied but quite concentrated. Long finish includes a hint of graphite. Very “Beaujolais-like” in style. (Carbonic Maceration?) Solid. — 8 days ago

Klinker Brick

Old Vine Lodi Zinfandel 2019

Deep ruby in color; blackberries, strawberries, and tabacco on the nose; high acidity; high tannins; tastes like raspberry jam, white pepper, and crushed gravel with a long fruity finish. There may be a little residual sugar, but it's well balanced and tasty. Nellie likes it and I do too. — 5 days ago

Went to buy a wake surf board. The store didn’t have any but a wine shop was near by. Saw a TikTok about this and had to try. Still way too young. Has some of the green pepper but wow. Smooth tannins and gorgeous dark fruit. Hints of black licorice. Had a big ribeye so very happy now. — 23 days ago

Nice! Such a good wine. Although I feel vintage variation is real with this one or maybe how it’s stored/source?

@Brandon Boesch agreed. The 2023 is one of the best vintages I’ve had in awhile.

Isosceles Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple of hours. The 2019 “Isosceles” pours a deep ruby color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of dark brambles, crème de cassis, tobacco, Fresno chilis, Mexican chocolate, dry earth and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. This is a big, powerful wine but it’s fairly balanced. I would drink now though it probably wouldn’t struggle to see past 2029. — 21 days ago

Meiomi

Monterey County Pinot Noir

Had a fine dining restaurant bartender recommend this to me about 10 years ago. Have tried and enjoyed multiple Pinots since then. But then I have the Meiomi again and wonder why I bother with anything else. Dark cherry, blackberry, mocha, cinnamon, allspice and a hint of oak . . . very smooth. Love it with broiled salmon and shellfish. — 15 days ago

Clos La Néore Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc 2018

What in the actual fck is this? Crazy mid-palate of pastel rainbow and intellectual muse. Def not your father’s SB. — 18 hours ago

Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Deep dark and concentrated color. Perfect balance of rich fruit and oak on the nose. High tannin. Leather, cacao. Medium length and very oaky finish. This is a very robust wine. Enjoying with a buttery ribeye. — 12 days ago

Concha y Toro

Don Melchor Puente Alto Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Medium ruby hue. Aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, cassis, licorice, and vanilla. Plus body, plus acid, plus tannins. Exquisitely smooth and integrated on the palate, with soft, grainy tannins. Even a hint of banana on the palate. Long finish. Drinking well now but well worth cellaring. 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 3% Merlot. — 14 days ago
