Petit Torus Madiran Tannat Blend 2018

That it’s 6 yrs of age & presents as young & fresh as it does says a lot about its Tannat core- 60% Tannat, the rest Cabernet Sauvignon & Cab Franc. Juicy but a secondary wave of tannic undertow. Red fruited & delish. For about 15$ a cool choice for a party wine. Intro to a raucous family night watching a great Knicks win. — 7 months ago

Madiran Meinjarre Tannat 2016

No notes, to go along arguably the best cassoulet in the region. Black fruits on the nose, a bit of leather too. Great acid drive and great width, nice tannins all along and fine tannins that kick in the rear before a nice and delicate finish. Great stuff and pairing made in heaven. — 2 years ago

Didn’t know they made anything other than dry wines with this grape.

Laurel Glen Vineyard

Counterpoint Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 1995

Just lovely black plummy fruit, some minerality as well, shows very youthful appearance and flavors, like the Bouscasse VV, 12.5% ABV and shows great freshness and no overripeness, long finish, back when I was actively tasting and following CA red wines, I loved the balance of the 1995 vintage, super fine with years to go, bravo to Patrick C!! — 2 years ago

Those older Laurel Glen/Counterpoint wines are so underrated.

Madiran Tannat Blend 2017

My prior experience with Tannat was limited to a bottle of Bodega Garzon, and I was not really a fan. This bottle gives me new perspective about the variety.

A blend of Tannat/CS/CF (60/20/20), it opens with ripe black fruits tinged with peppery spices, dark cocoa, cherry cola, and just hint of barnyard. Velvety palate with surprisingly polished tannins.

My first Madiran. Chateau Bouscassé is the home estate of Alain Brumont who also owns the more famous Chateau Montus.
