Château De Saint Estèphe

Château Montrose

La Dame de Montrose Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2020

2020 vintage. A blend of 49% Merlot,44% Cabernet Sauvignon,4% Petit Verdot, and 3% Cabernet Franc. I tasted this at the estate during the primeur campaign, and it certainly does not disappoint in 2025. A good introduction to the incredible grand vin, La Dame is more Merlot dominated, and more approachable in its youth. Very refined and elegant, with impeccable purity of fruit, a silky mouthfeel, fresh balancing acidity, and a long finish. It's very hard to resist now, but it should age gracefully. Abv. 13,5%. — 9 hours ago

Château Phélan Ségur

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

2016 vintage. 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot. Like many wines from this excellent vintage, starting to close a little bit. Everything is there, but will need a bit of patience to fully shine. — 16 days ago

Château Ormes de Pez

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

2015 vintage. 49% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. From the Cazes stable (Lynch Bages). Surprisingly light on its feet, especially compared to the Haut- Condissas Médoc 2015 tasted alongside. Floral and elegant, more like a Margaux than a Saint- Estèphe. Ready to drink. Abv. 13,5 %. — a month ago

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Saint-Joseph Syrah 2021

This bottle had been opened the night before. The 2021 pours a deep ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with significant staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart and ripe black and red fruits: mixed brambles, purple flowers, olives, black pepper, stony earth and a mix of cool and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acidity. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and peppery. True to the vintage, this is a cooler expression of Chave’s Saint Joseph and I really dig it. Drink now through 2041. — 23 days ago

Château Montrose

Saint-Estèphe Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2014

We think something has changed at Montrose after the departure of Jean Bernard Delmas. Its not a bad wine by any means but the style is modern and extracted. At ten years this ie very drinkable and great quality but does not speak to its terroir as it used to. Hope its just one year… — 11 days ago

The most recent vintage of Montrose I’ve had was the 2000 vintage but I’ve have enough experience with the estate going back to vintages in the 1960’s. If it has changed, that’s borderline criminal.

We have same experience, pretty much all vintages from 1966 to 2009. This 2014 is a good wine but little resemblance to our experience in so many vintages. We hope its a one off, but we dont really know. To your point if they changed, well its criminal indeed...

Château Cos d'Estournel

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 1986

A plush, meaty open nose. Dark plum and underbrush. Some iodine and a serious, brooding midpalate. Great balance and poise, and settled. Fantastic — 18 days ago

Château Lagrange

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2008

Medium ruby garnet , medium garnet rim . Quite exuberant on the nose from the off , with grafite , spicy cassis , touch of dusty tobacco and spicy blackberry . On the palate this is elegant with refreshing acidity , cassis, cool
Blackberry dome mineral , oyster shell notes . Fine tannins and fresh acidity . Good red currant tinged tinged finish . Really elegant and refined , a good example of this vintage . Drinking perfectly now and over the next 8-10 years I would imagine .

Château Cos d'Estournel

Les Pagodes de Cos Saint-Estéphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

A 2nd respected wine label of Cos D’Estournel (a 2nd Growth of the 1855 Grand Cru Classification) with a blend of Cab Sauv at 44%, Merlot at 46,2%, Cab Franc at 5,8% and Petit Verdot at 4% brings out an opulent, intense, deep, yet refined and properly-balanced red. The V’15 is perfectly poised, seductive, and extremely enjoyable. Eruptive fruity, with powerful aromatics in baked red fruits. The level of ripeness and raisins in notably persistent. Pagodes V’15 seats among my top favorites from Saint-Estèphe sub-appellation that will never disappoints and/or falls short of expectations. Cheers! — 15 days ago

Château Meyney

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2021

Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (54%), Merlot (34%) and Petite Verdot (12%). Dark ruby color with purple highlights. Aromas of ripe plums, black olives, dark chocolate and smoky cedar. Black cherry and plum fruit flavors lead the palate with additional hints of cranberry, black pepper, graphite and tobacco. Long, mineral laiden and smoky finish. Mouth coating structure and very firm tannins. Vibrant acidity keeps this wine pretty well balanced here in its youth. Very powerful and concentrated. Will continue to improve with more bottle age. — 23 days ago
