Château Léoville Poyferré

Saint Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1986

Medium deep garnet core with slightly wider terracotta rim . Quite exuberant nose , more dark fruits than the Barton , spicy , cedar notes , touch of funk , swimming pool note also . On the palate quite spicy more intense black fruits , cassis , sous bois , coffee , saline , mineral tinged sea spray notes . Balanced acidity and quite rounded but noticeable tannin . Long and denser on the finish than the Barton . Showing well now but can go another 10 years no problem — 16 days ago

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Hermitage Syrah 1978

From Mag. An absolute wow of a bottle. The nose is crazy intense, lucid and profound. Dark plum fruit with a whiff of band aid, iron, black pepper, a tangy meatiness. Loads of delicate floral notes floating around, but a soulful and pristine bottle. As fresh as an early 2000’s bottle but so much age and precision going on. Wonderful. Just spectacular. — 13 days ago

Château Lilian Ladouys

Saint Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2020

Vines of Lilian-Ladouys are found a stone's throw from the Graves of Cos d'Estournel and the Chateau Lafite-Rothschild. Deep Ruby red color, with inky tones, blend of 62% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot, aged in French oak for 15 months, aromas of black and blue fruit, cedar notes and herb spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and plum with licorice and toasty oak flavors, full body with fine tannins, long finish ending with earthy oak mineral character. Will age over short term. — 4 days ago

Château Léoville Barton

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1986

Medium garnet , medium wide garnet terracotta rim . Tobacco , sous bois , touch of ash and coffee . On the palate quite rounded but firm tannins , dark cassis , cedar , sous bois . Good acidity and medium grafite tinged finish . Overall a touch rustic in comparison to the other Leovilles , but this is drinking perfectly now , no rush however as this held up well in the glass,
so now and over the next 5-10 years

Crystalline in the glass. Pure presentation of citrus fruits and moderate sweetness, with lots of detail on the mid-palate. A beauty which will cellar for many years to come. — 18 days ago

Château Gruaud Larose

Rustic old school styled Bordeaux with black fruits, cedar, leather, earth, graphite & cigar box. A wine I have had many times that is just hitting its prime with many years ahead — 5 days ago

Ultreia Saint Jacques Mencía 2020

2020. Red fruit filled in after being open for a few hours to balance out the mild funkiness and medium tannins. Paired nicely with homemade lamb kofta and fantasy football drafting. — 16 days ago

Saint-Joseph Syrah 2020

My wife said it smelled like fart but to my nose pure barnyard, it dissipated (does that make it more fart-like?). Mid-weight and gorgeously textured Syrah with no hard edges, tangy ripe red berry, black tapenade, white pepper and leathery tones in a velvety package. Needed a short decant and was a super match for braised rib. — 20 days ago

LOL. The answer is yes, more fart-like.

Nice. This sub appellation is coming on strong. Try the Chave St. Joseph if you haven’t already.
