Château Lafleur

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 1975

Dynamic and punchy with great fruit still. Quite four square compared to the more silky 75’s alongside with plum, violets and supple fruit. At the edges the fruit showing a touch of fatigue and a slight dryness in the long finish. Not as supple and elegant as the PÈtrus but vibrant and memorable. — 2 months ago

Pensées de Lafleur

Pomerol 2001

Dark rubi robe with no signs of its age. A very complex and profound nose of dark cherries, flowers, blackcurrant and anise. In the mouth its ethereal and elegant, ready and will last some time still. Excellent second wine Lafleur, the greatest Pomerol there is. — 7 months ago

Château Gazin

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Stunner of a right bank Bordeaux. Sensational fruit, menthol lights. Lush and soft. Wish we could have gone into the future and decanted it 6 hours earlier. Got better and better and better as we lingered over dinner and tried not to slam it. — 4 days ago

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2021

Compared with Gazin. Quite gentle. Less earthy. Fruity. But robust is same. Good balanced to the last vintage tasted before. Ok to drink. Château Beychevelle 21 @, , 250716 — 4 months ago

L'Hospitalet de Gazin Pomerol 2016

9.2

A refined bouquet of blackberry, blackcurrant, and forest floor, accented by hints of violet and cedar. Beautifully proportioned medium-to-full body, offering a supple texture and finely woven tannins. Finely balanced.

This second wine of Gazin has grown since I tasted it 4 years ago but remains youthful. Need to try the grand vin.
