Château Latour

Premier Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2011

Fantastic and seemed even more mature than 13 years. Dark dark but smooth and developed. It’s a focused wine in great balance. No complaints but you can tell it was a bit below the heights for Latour. Double decanted and enjoyed over 4+ hours. — a day ago

Chateau Latour-Martillac

Pessac-Leognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Pretty deep . Quite earthy , blueberry , blackcurrant , spicy cassis . Good volume , sweet fruit , cassis , spicy blueberry . Ok acidity , quite grippy but ripe tannins . Ok length . Still quite young, will benefit for more time in the cellar . From now and over the next 10 years or so . A good example from this chateau. — 5 days ago

Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2022

Bright ruby color. Aromas of black cherry, black currant and wet soil. The palate is full of black fruit, kirsch, black licorice and baking spices. Note of earthy dried mushrooms on the finish. Medium bodied and well balanced acidity. No sign of oak aging. Solid. Thanks for opening this one, Keith S! — a month ago

Le Pauillac de Chateau Latour Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

I opened the 2019 vintage, a mere baby. I know. Pauillac is home to most of the first growths: Latour, Mouton-Rothschild and Lafite-Rothschild. This is a very well-made wine. It feels a smidge more new-world styled, fruit leading, but is so ballasted by the earth, the pencil lead, the shining wet-rock mineral notes. The nose is blackcurrant and blue plums even, with slight pepper and roses. The palate is so smooth—sanded down tannins. Granted, this had barely entered open-worthy territory, but it is showing a lot already and with air even more—the florals start to enter the picture. The already well-integrated tannins get silkier. This is an EXCELLENT wine. Interestingly, the Overture was a Napa touching on Bordeaux sensibilities, while the Pauillac was a Bordeaux wine touching on Napa vibes! — 2 months ago

Pouilly-Fuissé Chardonnay 2022

All of the grapes from the vineyards owned by the Latour family are vinified and aged in the cuverie of Château Corton Grancey in Aloxe-Corton. The winery was the first purpose-built cuverie in France and remains the oldest still-functioning. Medium pale lemon color with aromas of stone fruits with a slight nutty floral character. On the palate flavors of peach and melon with lemon citrus and savory notes. Medium+ finish, lively acidity, ending with fruit, toasty oak and minerality. Nice! — a month ago

Domaine Latour-Giraud

Meursault-Genevrières 1er Cru Chardonnay

You know you’re drinking Meursault from the first sip with the chalky minerality and saline. The body is round, thick & waxy. Green apple w/ plenty of skin, lime zest, lemon, tropical melons, grapefruit & white stone fruits. Some honey notes, crumbled chalk, sea fossils, sea spray, limestone marl, mid white spice, honey notes, white field of spring flowers with greens, round, rainfall acidity and a round, lush, well balanced, elegant finish that lasts two-minutes falling on minerality, excellent white spice and soft used barrel notes.

Another point or two with cellaring.

Les Forts de Latour Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

Refer to previous Delectable note. Drank this last Sunday. I made notes and lost them with the Spanish Tempranillo notes. Very solid with a long life in front of it. The 2nd of 6 bottles. — 22 days ago

Crystalline in the glass. Pure presentation of citrus fruits and moderate sweetness, with lots of detail on the mid-palate. A beauty which will cellar for many years to come. — a month ago
