Today I have opened the 2018 The Pey Family Textbook Cabernet Sauvignon. From Saint Helena, CA Napa Valley. This is a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Merlot. A nice surprise at this price point, well worth it.
On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, plum sauce, vegetal notes, black currant, mint, spice, violets and earth.
On the palate I find black cherry, blackberry, black raspberry, black currant, green bell pepper, spice, mocha, pencil shavings and earth.
This wine is full bodied with a fresh vibrant mouthfeel medium + acidity and medium+ sandpaper tannins that leaves you with a long vegetal black fruit earthy finish.
