Really excellent. From half bottle and was worried this would be too far gone. Certainly doesn’t need more time - but still quite together. Pretty minerally (in a nice St Julien way). Lighter bodied at this point but still with a nice lifting acid at the finish. Excellent pairing with a simple roast chicken with lemon. — 3 days ago
One of the 1001 wines. The brilliance of Mesnil is on show in Les Chetillons - let’s not forget that two of the most prestigious Champagnes are from here too, Salon and Krug’s Clos de Mesnil. This is much more reasonably priced than those two. When poured this has a very fine bead with voluminous mousse. The colour of bright straw yellow. The palate had broad developed notes with mushroom and toasted hazelnuts in the aromas. After a while a delightful note of poached pear. — 5 days ago
Blend of primarily Merlot (50%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (45%) supported by small amounts of Petite Verdot (4%) and Cabernet Franc (1%) blended in. Dark ruby color with slight hints of purple. Aromas of graphite, blackberry, anise and forest floor. Dark berry and plum fruit flavors along with hints of mushroom, minerals and baking spices. The finish is a little tight. Medium-plus body and quite concentrated. Tannins are present but not overwhelming. This wine is quite good right now but will improve with bottle age. Outstanding value! I am looking forward to revisiting this one. — 5 days ago

Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim. Not showing much age.
Gorgeous nose, and dry and fruity on the palate with medium acidity.
Showing blackberries, black currants, black cherries, cedar, cola, licorice, light vanilla, light coffee, chocolates, earth, black pepper and tobacco leaf.
Long finish with fine grained tannins.
What a wonderful surprise. This 23 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is drinking fantastically.
Elegant and fruit forward. Rich and extracted. Soft and smooth.
Good right out of the bottle, and so much better after an hour in the decanter.
Wine Enthusiasts 94 points. Robert Parker 97 points. Wine Spectator 98 points.
Showing great complexity at this point, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.
A great sipping wine. Just gorgeous.
A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc.
14.1% alcohol by volume.
97 points.

Medium ruby with a ruby garnet rim . Quite spicy and aromatic cassis , blackberry and grafite touches . Quite a lot more mineral on the palate , tobacco , ripe blackberry and cassis , good density , touch of mint . Nice length and richness , rounded but still pretty grippy tannins , balanced acidity . Nice grafite and tobacco tinged length . This is beginning to drink quite well but will continue to improve over the next 10 years and last well a further 10. Successful for the vintage — 2 days ago
Quite floral with plummy cassis, creamy blackberry and a touch of pencil lead, crushed rocks . On the palate this has quite good freshness , ripe cassis and blackberry , but with dusty firm tannins . Mineral , seashell hints of on the good length finish . Quite richly fruited but well balanced overall . This needs more time but for 2018 is promising, balanced with good freshness . Come back in 10 -15 years and will show well a further 10 — 2 days ago
Birthday year wine for me. So far, I’ve aged better than this bottle but it’s close! The ‘88 is slightly past its prime but still worth tasting. In the garden of earthly delights - dried figs, plums, dates, and mushrooms. Some peat and chocolate. Plenty of spice. Very fun. Happy birthday to me! — 3 months ago

Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (66%), Merlot (22%), Cabernet Franc (6.5%) and Petite Verdot (5.5%). Aromas of dark berry and plum fruit, menthol, graphite and violets. The palate is full of black berry/currant/plum/cherry fruit with hints of dark chocolate, dried herbs and minerals. Long and lingering finish with well integrated oak. Medium/plus bodied. Smooth tannins and quite a silky/creamy texture. Excellent balance of fruit and tertiary notes. Drinking well now, and should continue to improve over the next few years.
