A pretty yet understated mix of wet stone, dusty violets, lavender and black currants rises up from the 2018 Rosso di Montepulciano. This is soft-textured and fleshy in feel, yet energized by bright acids and a sour citrus twang that enlivens its tart red berry fruits. It tapers off incredibly fresh and mouthwatering with stoney minerals, roses and vanilla-tinged sweet spice. To be frank, I’ve seen some very poor reviews from this wine in certain social circles, yet from this experience, I can’t validate them. That said, there may be some bottle variation at play. Medium ruby; medium plus intensity aromas of purple flower, ripe berry, mulberry, plum, ripe blackberry, black river rocks; dry, medium plus acid, medium tannins, high alcohol, medium plus body, medium plus intensity flavors consistent with aromas; quite ripe and juicy — 4 years ago
Delectable this is the 8 Songs Barossa Shiraz - not offered in your choices. Nose of ripe plums and earth, developing pruney notes. On the palate all the characteristics that make Barossa Shiraz loveable for winter - full bodied red and black fruits, oak not dominating (in this case). Medium minus intensity and tannins - the latter slightly grainy. Overall a well made Barossa Shiraz from an excellent vintage made by Peter Lehmann, known in some circles as the “Godfather of the Barossa “. RIP Peter Lehmann. — 5 years ago
Happy Thanksgiving to all of the Delectable family.
Good wine, good food, good to see family again, good to hear a favorite song about '...twenty-seven eight-by-ten color glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back...' all makes for a perfect afternoon.
Nose has black cherry, menthol, moist peaty soil, dried blackberry, ripe blackcurrant and cedar box.
Palate has dehydrated cherry, ripe blackberry, tart cherry, leather, medium tannins, medium acidity with medium finish. — 4 years ago
2015 vintage. Last tasted 7.28.21 and 6.1.21. Smoke, coriander, roasted nuts and dark cherry still wafting throughout the nose but it’s picked up a leather/cedar habit to add to the dossier. Consistently medium-bodied altho starting to transition ever so slightly to light medium body. Baby fat almost completely gonzo. Finish maintaining balanced fruit/acidity and keeping a 30+ second wave goodbye. Cocoa powder that was dancing circles around the endgame palate six weeks ago is on vacation. — 4 years ago
2014 bursting with life and a substantial backbone. A richer style Champagne with hint is almond and perfect balance. Circles the palet and delivers a beautiful finish — 5 years ago
Pale amber with frothy white that dims to fringe and crop circles. Same alar lacing. Shiny lime, dried pineapple, banana skin, and orange zest, with light aniseed scent residuals. Lemon-orange to lemon zest. Lime pith, tangerine, thyme; zesty finish that is somehow supple. Not so creamy, as a revisit to spongy; pith. .

Wow. This is one hell of a Taillepieds. Nose is deep, dark black cherry fruit with twizzler, mid season cherry with pitch perfect clarity. Taillepieds always brings the drama and this goes to 11. Dark roses, Dried and fresh. So complex and so darn dramatic, Gorgeous roundness to the nose. Just insane. 9.8 nose. Some wood spice, but more like shavings from 7th grade woodshop. Wow. That palate is just insane. It’s got the cherry fruit, sour, dark, mid season, dark red all on a chord progression and all at the same time. Cherry fruit, everything, everywhere, all at once. Unreal internal aromatic and it has a decadence but outlined by this tart cherry fruit that circles opulent black cherry fruit. Just stunning. More open than the Clos des Chenes. A genius wine. Equal to CDC in 2023. Wow this nose goes hard as air gets into it. My god this is hedonistic but also fresh and energetic like 2008 or 1996 but with the fruit of 2019. This is absolutely a showstopper. Gorgeous tannins. So well crafted. The purity is the star here as is the transparency. The nose goes hard after an hour. It’s hard to describe as it’s got a lot of “non wine” aroma. 9.8 nose. Heavenly. Super sweet and silky now. Gorgeous fruit and opulence. What a finish. Unreal blackberry and black cherry inner mouth aromas an hour in. So structured and young but just incredible. After a day this is just stunning. Deep, dramatic and juicy. Wonderful structure and sexy black cherry fruit. Silky as silky can be. — 6 months ago
