2017 vintage. FLB fodder. Decanted and tasted after 15 mins, 45 mins and 1.25 hours. Medium body. Fairly muddy color. A parlor trick of rose petals and tar up front with a battle to the death, both mid and end palates, between chalk and dark chocolate. Chalk won. Not what I would call refined but made up for that with plenty of rusticity/old school/authenticity vibes. Apparently, I liked it more than anyone else here but a bonus .2 for the retro-stylings. Getting some oak/ alcohol on the nose, though oak really isn’t a valtellina thing. The mouth is light, fruit( cherry, tart wild berry) and some earthiness). Light tannins, very approachable wine. Had this with sausage risotto and was excellent. — 10 months ago

Very nice. It’s fairly simple. but dark fruit w maybe some licorice. Decent tannins. I would say a medium to med-lite body. Slightly flabby esp at finish. But decent balance. Good value. Really like these Italian mountain wines. (Very different review vs my first time!) — 6 years ago

@Benjamin Keator had his hosting at the CC tonight and it was absolutely incredible. What a night of gorgeous wines! All wines are guessed blind.

This dessert wine is about the same age as my Dad. When you can associate a wine/vintage personally, it really opens your eyes to how wine can hold. This is undoubtedly Pedro Ximenez, which I guessed. It reminds me of a non-vintage port with a balsamic mix to it. Tons of black licorice, old brown sugar, and the aforementioned balsamic vinaigrette note. Incredible for the age. — 8 years ago
