Cuveé Du Chevalier

Spring Mountain Vineyard

Miravalle-La Perla-Chevalier Red Blend 1993

1993 vintage. Last tasted 7.15.25 (9.0). Sampled via Coravin. Beautifully, supple body which is the best compliment this effort has going for it currently. Not much going on elsewhere. 6.24.26. — 7 days ago

Grande Cuveé 172ÈME Édition Brut Champagne Blend

The Grande Cuvée 172ème is based on the 2016 vintage (58%) with reserve wines going back to 1998. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The wine pours a straw color with a persistent mousse. The nose, which was a little reticent at first, came alive after about 30min of air. At that point, it became redolent of ripe and dried tropical fruit, lemon curd, white flowers, freshly baked brioche, marzipan, and torrone. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and texture is positively divine. Every time I have Krug, I fell like the splurge is worth it. This was an outstanding pairing with the spider crab arroz cremoso. Drink now (perhaps even with a short decent!) and through 2046. — 2 months ago

Chevalier de la Crée

Knights Templar Cuvée Montagny 1er Cru Chardonnay 2023

Bright lemon color with aromas of citrus, stone fruits and flinty floral notes. On the palate flavors of crisp apple, pear and lemon citrus with notes of white flowers and flinty spice. Medium+ finish, vivid acidity ending with citrus and noted mineral spice. Nice! — 5 months ago

Leognan

Domaine de Chevalier Pessac-Léognan 2018

Decanted this for an hour and a half and reserved a glass in the bottle for the second day. These notes are based on the second day, as the flavors seemed to shine through a bit more. On the nose, aromas of blackberry and leather, although had to do quite a bit of swirling to get the aromas to come through. On the palate, beautifully deep flavors of blackberry and black currant coming through, with hints of graphite and cocoa in the background. Tannins seems pretty well integrated with good acidity, although definitely some grip on the finish. Cocoa seems to come through a bit more on the finish as well. Overall really tasty, but seems to be closing down a bit for sure. I have one more bottle, so looking forward to seeing how this tastes in 5-10 years time. — 8 months ago

Graves Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

Blend of 65% Cab Sauvignon, 30% Merlot & 5% Petite Verdot. A wonderful wine with ripe fruit, floral and spice aromas. Cherry, plum and currant flavors with a nice mineral edge, creamy soft tannins, lingering finish ending with a earthy mineral tang. Age worthy! Very Nice! — 2 months ago

Domaine Leflaive

Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 2004

More or less the same aspect as the Pucelles, medium gold in colour . A lot more reserved and younger on the nose , more linear and mineral , seashell, light lemon and some white flowers . This is discreet , at least on the nose , on the palate however this is intense but linear and focused , with a touch of lemon oil , but mostly chalky mineral , seashell notes , long vibrant length . Really fresh and vital though there is good mouthfeel , just a hint of toastiness on the finish . Long and fine , fresh and still young . From now and over the next 5- 10 years . Also a late release from the domaine , with wax capsule and Diam cork. — 2 months ago

Domaine de Chevalier

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2021

Velvety red fruits, vanilla, rubber industrial tubing, cracked pepper and wet forest floor permeate the nose, with a slight malo character that pervades, along with an overall floral element that wafts throughout. You can tell the pedigree with this. Deep red/purple coloration on a medium to full body, and even though this in young, the acidity seems well aligned, with tannins perfectly integrated, dry, but not austere. Palate is rich and refined, with prominent red fruits, not overly jammy or fleshy, but silky plums, black cherries, granite or graphite, with pencil shavings, slight balsamic characteristics, and a loooong lingering dry palate that lingers for quite some time. Really impressive for a wine so young! — 5 months ago
