Nose has ripe plum, mashed blackberries, dark chocolate powder, strawberry jam on leather, molasses, molasses cookies, wet soil, nutmeg and vanilla bean.
Palate has blackberry compote, black cherry reduction, partially dried plum, wet baking spice, wet+dry leather, dark chocolate shavings, (light) oak/vanilla influence remains. Extended finish, really starting to pick up incredibly at 3-4H in the decanter.
Paired with Allen Bros. ribcap (USDA Prime version) tonight, unfortunately our grill has a 4ft. snow drift in front presently so the best I can muster was a super hot cast iron pan from the oven, then onto stove with lots of butter and in 7m total we had beef to die for...Which I had some competition for dining this evening.
This bottle was a very generous gift from my West Coast brother @David T from earlier in the year. My work travel schedule was hectic and never found a good time to settle in on a weekend with the wine or pairing, until now. (I've lost track of the amount of COVID tests I've done in the past 5M, but all have been negative 🙏 to date.) A fabulous gift to enjoy now that I'm hopefully relaxing for the next 2w...
Happy Holidays to everyone.🎄 — 6 years ago

Recently met the winemaker David. Fresh and crisp, unusual for a Prosecco, 100% Glera, pleasant aromas of stone and tropical fruits. On the palate pear and peach flavors, good bubble flow, on dryer side, good balance between fruit and crispness (I prefer a dry Prosecco) ending clean and elegant. Pricey compared to the others out there, but comparison is like apples to oranges. A very nice Prosecco, one of the very best I have tasted, worth the price. — 6 years ago
Very pleasant berry aroma on nose, tastes astringent and dry at first but given bit time, it was smoother and rounded after opening up . A very special bottle — 6 years ago
Dry-ish and delicious — 7 years ago
Light and dry but funky, almost yeasty tannins mixed with berries. Distinct old vine Chilean varietals that I would like to see more of. — 4 years ago
Fabulous, very drinkable, and a good price — 4 years ago

Merry Christmas Eve-Eve everyone! 🎄🎅🤶⛄️❄️🎁🍷
On the nose, leap dark currants & cassis with bright red, dark, blue & purple florals at pop & pour. Ripe; blackberries, dark cherry kirsch, plum, mulberries, blueberries, poached & strawberries, black raspberries & raspberries. Black licorice, star anise, dark chocolate bar, volcanic & limestone, steeped fruit teas, dark cola, sweet tarry notes, black, rich, turned earth, mid, dark spices, cinnamon stick, clove, nutmeg, vanilla, barrel shavings with char, dry brush, leather, fresh tobacco, granite, some eucalyptus, mint notes, light, dry herbs with fresh & some withering red, dark, purple and blue, fresh and slightly candied florals.
The body is; round, ripe, & rich. The tension, structure, length and balance are just beginning their sweet spot. The tannins are; rounding, tarry & still chewy. Plenty of life left in the 09...8-10 years. Dark currants & cassis. Ripe; blackberries, dark cherry kirsch, plum, mulberries, blueberries, poached & strawberries, cherries, black raspberries & raspberries. Black licorice, star anise, dark chocolate bar, volcanic & limestone, dry, crushed rocks, dry stems, steeped fruit teas, dark cola, sweet tarry notes, black, rich, turned earth, mid, dark spices, cinnamon stick, clove, nutmeg, vanilla, milk chocolate, mocha, caramel, barrel shavings with char, dry brush, leather, fresh tobacco, granite, some eucalyptus, mint notes, light, dry herbs with fresh & some withering red, dark, purple and blue, fresh and slightly candied florals. The acidity is round & spot on. The ripe, rich, ruby, elegant, balanced & polished finish is splendid and persists nicely on the palate with mid, dark spice on the long set. So much better with this much age. Really delicious tonight!
A steal now at under $35 upon release at Costco.
This wine is close to its peak and will hover there 3-4 years.

Dry, lots of flavor — 5 years ago
Super dry notes of woodiness, and acidic notes tart citrus, limoncello, and lemongrass on the nose. Very pale lemon color with medium-thin legs. Tastes more mellow than it smells, with white peaches n cream and Bosc pear on the palate, and hints of river stone, passion fruit, and gingery astringency lingering on the finish. Nicely balanced and polished with a subtle creamy quality. Great showing for a sauv blanc, probably would go good with white fish, crustaceans, escargot, and creamy Alfredo dishes. Great by itself :) — 6 years ago
I met winemaker David last year. A blend of 70% Pinot Nero and 30% Glera with 6 months of fining. Fresh fragrant fruit aromas with slight mousse and bubble flow. On the palate stone and berry fruit flavors on dryer crisp side, good balance between fruit and crispness, (I prefer a dry Prosecco) ending clean and elegant. A very nice Prosecco, one of the best I have tasted, worth the price. Tasting Sample. — 6 years ago
Delicious. Strawberries fresh herbs nice bright acidity that’s well integrated into the other flavors and carries through to the finish. Medium body dash of tannin and mineral balanced it to be dry yet very fruity. — 7 years ago
Fully bodied and dry! Lovely — 7 years ago
Thanks to @David L , I’m a believer. Loads of ripe melon, lemon zest, white grapefruit, lemongrass, and tropical fruits of all kinds; green guava, pineapple, kiwi. This is better with lots of air and closer to room temp. Jesse Katz is doing some really fun wines right now, and this stands out. I think this will age really nicely. Extremely interested to learn more about the oak treatment. When I heard Haut Brion Blanc barrels, my ears perked up. Check out @Greg Ballington ‘s post. — 7 years ago

Clear, deep ruby in color; on the nose, it's clean with pronounced primary and secondary aromas of blackberries, black cherries, and wood smoke; on the palate, dry with high acidity, high tannins, high alcohol, full body, and pronounced intensity primary and secondary flavors of black currants, red bell peppers, black pepper, and crushed gravel with a long finish. This wine is intense and complex, but a little high in alcohol. Overall, I rate this wine as very good. It may need a little more time to open up. — 8 months ago
