Wonderful stone fruit Sancerre — 5 years ago
Harmony, depth, and energy - what more can one ask for from a wine. I must note, the texture is surreal and ranks amongst the most pleasing mouthfeel I've experienced in a wine. It carreses, teases, and was greatly nuanced. All I can say is that Gerard Potel's a genius. True master of his artform. How I wished I could have learnt from him. — 7 years ago

Arthur Metz – Crémant d’Alsace Cuvée Prestige (N/V)
Alsace – France 🇫🇷
Overview
Made in the traditional method, this Crémant d’Alsace blends Pinot Blanc, Pinot Auxerrois, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay (exact ratios not disclosed). Arthur Metz, founded in 1904, is one of Alsace’s largest and most recognized sparkling producers, with a long tradition of crisp, approachable fizz.
Aromas & Flavors
Dry, floral, with grapefruit zest, ripe mineola, and mandarin peel. Light orchard fruit notes bring freshness, accented by a subtle mineral edge.
Mouthfeel
Clean, crisp, and light-bodied. Fine bubbles carry bright citrus flavors into a refreshing, easy-to-drink finish. Very much in line with traditional Alsatian sparkling style.
Food Pairings
Ideal as an aperitif, with shellfish, sushi, or light salads. Also pairs nicely with goat cheese or Alsatian tarte flambée.
Verdict
A lively, floral, and citrus-driven Crémant d’Alsace. Easy to enjoy, refreshingly light, and a great alternative to Champagne at an approachable price point. 🍾✨

More residual sugar than I expected, and also quite a bit of wood… cedar/oak. Blind tasted it and confused it with a California Chardonnay… — 5 years ago
Filigree, minerals and gorgeous nose. It’s delicacy and minerality were profound — 7 years ago

On pop-n-pour, the nose is intensely minerally, showing medium-toned freshly-cracked stone, along with almost pungent purply-mountain berry fruitiness. A musky, feral note in there too. Chiseled and structured in the mouth. It’s full-bodied, with a fair amount of chalky tannin present. Very much on the minerally side, flavorwise. I like it but this is unlike any other Sancerre Rouge I’ve ever had. I’m pretty certain I would not be able to identify this as a Sancerre Rouge (or a Pinot Noir of any sort) if it had been served blind. — a year ago
Ripe pineapple on the nose, big buttery body with a good amount of acid to balance it out, notes of tropical fruits with some sweetness like creme brulee. Mmmmmmm!! — 6 years ago
Super tasty. Tart red fruits with good acidity and a slight funky edge. — 7 years ago

Really liked this. Light on the palate with most citrusy and stonefruits but had also a nutty and autolutic complexity without being to heavy. Great wine — 6 months ago
