Domaine Les Grands Bois

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC)

Grands Échézeaux Pinot Noir 2009

Medium ruby garnet with a quite wide garnet rim . Quite explosive from the off with spicy , stemmy violet , smoky darker fruits, touch of cassis with some dark cherry , and allspice. On the palate this again shows quite exotic fruit , mix of red and dark , dry spices with smoky violets . This has quite a generous mouthfeel with some noticable tannin still and balanced acidity . Quite long and mineral tinged on the palate , with smoky , cherry , black tea finish . Still pretty young and fruit driven , balanced alcohol and ripe tannin. Probably better in 5 - 10 years and will last well a further 10. — 17 days ago

Comtes de Champagne Grands Crus Blanc de Blancs Champagne Chardonnay 2008

2008 vintage. A bit yeasty at the onset but that receded into the background relatively quickly. Plenty of power/acidity afoot with no danger of this getting flabby in this decade-or the next. Medium/medium-heavy body. Personally prefer the rosé effort of this but not too shabby for a vintage BDB. 10.17.25. — 10 days ago

Domaine Bois de Boursan

Cuvée des Félix Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2022

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim, and medium plus intensity.

Pretty nose of raspberries, strawberries, light cedar, earth, herbs and chocolates.

Medium bodied with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with raspberries, currants, plums, cooked cherries, spices, light oak, chocolates and peppercorn.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This young Grenache based blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, but already enjoyable, even by itself.

This great 2022 vintage is starting to drink nicely now. Well structured and nicely balanced, with a great mouthfeel.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 20 years.

Elegant and robust. Rich and fruit forward. Tannic and tangy. Interesting stuff.

A blend of 65% Grenache, 25% Mourvedre, 5% Syrah and 5% of other local grapes. Aged in used French oak barrels.

15% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$100.

Cuvée des Grands Côtés Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes Coteaux Champenois Ambonnay Pinot Noir 2014

What a great wine! Pinot Noir from the Cote Champenois. Very mineral, with some nice red fruit on the palate. You can taste where a Blanc de Noir gets its profile from in this wine. Great to have this “Grand Cru” with some age on it (9 years). I picked up two bottles up in the silent bid auction of the 2025 Wine on Wheels event. Such a lucky buy. Enjoyed with home cooked grilled lamb, sautéed mushrooms with a Sherry reduction, asparagus and wild rice medley. Pretty good, although probably a touch better with something more along the lines of poultry (roast chicken or duck, maybe turkey). — 23 days ago
