Blinded, I was tossing up between a fino sherry and sans ouillage Jura white. Reckon I didn’t do too bad in my guess, but frankly, I was more blown away at how good the wine was than thinking about what it was. It was just so deep and complex… so textural and mineral. Like a mini Vin Jaune! Just a little less intense, which was a plus for drinkability to me.
On the nose, nuts, curry leaves, yeast, grilled lemons, bruised apples, and iodine. Crisp and very textural on the palate. Ah, such a joy to sip on. Fresher, ripe citrus notes too. Heaps of brine. So much so that it just stains the finish. Truly excellent stuff here.
NB: Pretty sure this was made of 100% Savignan, aged under flor. — 4 months ago
Deep ruby color, smells of mushroom, wet soil and some smoke. Smooth tannins, medium acid. Tastes of mushroom, mild pepper, earthy with deeply hidden cherry. — 3 months ago
Score would have been even better in 15 years. Still much to give — 6 months ago
This wine is the 2021 Domaine Louis Boillot & Fils Gevrey-Chambertin. It offers a shimmering medium ruby hue with nuanced red-fruit and earthy characteristics that effortlessly leap from the glass, especially after some time decanting. There’s also a delicate crème brûlée and toasty note that adds dimension.

Fine and attractive, has a lovely approachability in its supple fruit, pliant tannin, and ripe texture. Despite the vintage character, there’s nice balance here with good freshness and aromatics. Black cherry, slightly roasted, plum, spicecake, sweet meat, sous bois, wilted flowers, balsam, rosemary and licorice. Minimal racking, probably a fine call for ‘18 — 13 days ago
