Dusty Nabor

Heitz Cellar

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Deep Ruby with aromas of berry fruits, savory oak and floral notes. On the palate blackberry and cherry currant flavors with hints of cedar and leather, adding some herb notes. Fine dusty tannins, good acidity, well balanced, ending with fruit and earthy mineral notes. Nice! Grab a filet! — 13 days ago

Penfolds

Bin 389 South Australia Cabernet Shiraz 2022

A penfold’s classic, 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 49% Shiraz, an amazing combo that provides the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the richness of Shiraz. A great example of the striking balance of fruit and oak, this version of Bin 389 highlights the approachable mid-palate Penfolds is known for decades. Grapes are sourced from 5 different regions, on the nose, it is rich with deep tones of mahogany and cigar leaves. Mellow spices are quite integrated with a dusty and textured mouthfeel thanks to the amount of cocoa powder, tannins are firm but impactful. Smooth and delicate after 90 mins of breathing. Tasted at immediate uncorked and after 1.5 hours and the difference was noticeable!

Château Lafite Rothschild

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1985

Medium ruby , garnet rim, touch of terracotta rim . Slightly dusty , animal touch , with leather , spicy and herbal , soy , iodine . On the palate quite strict , grafite , slightly more red fruit , cranberry , then blackcurrant and grafite . Slightly dusty dry tannins , balanced acidity . Slightly spicy , mineral , grafite tinged finish . This needs a bit of time to open but shows quite well , slightly herbal , and perhaps lacks a little charm , but is quite classic in style if not a great 1985. From now and over the next 10 years . On the night this was probably only ahead of the 1977 , and my least favourite of the 1980s vintages . — 5 months ago

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2015

Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), Merlot (24%), Petite Verdot (3%) and Cabernet Franc (3%). Dark ruby/purple color. Aromas of plush black fruit, violets, graphite, leather, cedar and wet gravel. Jammy raspberry and blackberry fruit flavors with additional notes of plums, black currants, mocha, coffee, tobacco and baking spices. Beautiful hints of smoke and dusty earth on the long and precise finish. Rich and concentrated with great intensity. Medium-plus body and some noticeable tannins. Still a bit tight, but heading to a very good place. Thank you so much for the wonderful gift, Kasey and Pete! — 19 days ago

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2011

My go to Bordeaux classic. Small black fruits, tobacco, cigar boxes and the ever present stubborn dusty bitter note. — 3 months ago

Château Cos d'Estournel

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Quite floral with plummy cassis, creamy blackberry and a touch of pencil lead, crushed rocks . On the palate this has quite good freshness , ripe cassis and blackberry , but with dusty firm tannins . Mineral , seashell hints of on the good length finish . Quite richly fruited but well balanced overall . This needs more time but for 2018 is promising, balanced with good freshness . Come back in 10 -15 years and will show well a further 10 — 4 months ago

Isole e Olena

Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2020

Really quite nice, and a perfect pairing with a Tuscan style bistecca. Have wanted to try Isole e Olena for a while but I think this was the first time. Dark cherry, some dusty restrained tannins, excellent acid of course. Another nice 2020 Chianti. — 9 months ago

Joseph Phelps Vineyards

Insignia Estate Grown Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2007

1 hour decant(lots chunky/fine sediment). A gorgeous inky purplish garnet color. On the nose: dark fruit, forest floor, smoked meat, floral, cigar wrapper, pencil lead. Taste: smooth, rich, creamy mouthcoating wine with blackberry/dark cherry, dark chocolate, earth, tobacco, baking spice, and a cedar/graphite medium plus finish with some slight dusty tannins. Had this 2 years ago, and it's improved. In the beginning of its drink window at 18 years? Wow — a month ago

Château Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1998

Medium ruby garnet core , garnet rim . More dusty cassis , spicy blackberry , tobacco , sea spray, hot bricks. On the palate refreshing acidity and more gritty tannin , cassis , blackberry, mineral and tobacco notes . Slightly more linear on the mid palate with good balance and excellent length with mineral tobacco hints . This is drinking well now with time in the decanter , but will continue to improve over the next 5-10 years and last well a further 10-15 years. Really benefited from time in the decanter . — 8 months ago
