Checking in on the 2016. Nose is all olive. Bacon as well. Super granite and also feral and primal. Wow. Gorgeous developmental. Some gravy. So meaty. So olivey. So N. Rhone. Classic. Palate is ripe, rich and chiseled in the 16 style. Lean and gorgeous filigree. Good depth, fresheners and impressive mid palate amplitude. Tannins clamp down initially but will mellow out. Juicy and very long. Superb. — 2 years ago
This is the Gold Capsule. The classic style. Gorgeous nose of ripe green apples, slate and apricot. Gorgeous depth and purity. Salty as well. Palate is just so good. Rich, energetic and with lovely apple and apricot fruit along with top notch finesse. Finished salty and slatey with building energy. Still needs time to open but so good. So luscious and just perfectly balanced. Such pure fruit. Fully realized.
After a few hours this has more prominent acidity and just wonderful filigree and terrific structure. — 3 years ago
Wow. A wine of stunning purity. Needs a 45 minute decant at a minimum.
Nose muted lilacs. As this opens perfect pinot fruit.
Palate: utterly incredibly pure early season cherries. Incredibly well made. As this opens some more lipstick and joy. Pure mountain air in a bottle. So elegant. Pure filigree.
Expansive internal aromatics. Majestic. Intensely packed florals.

Citrus explosion on the nose. Such clarity and depth. The vividness of the citrus is stunning. Blood orange, grapefruit, tangelo, pink grapefruit and more. Awesome mineral depth and so much slate. Palate is bone dry and skeletal with forceful minerality and stunning purity. Delicate and playful. So pure and wispy. Lovely hit of opulence in the mid palate and perfect acid balance. Luscious on the finish and really the acid is not high, nor low, just perfect. Very complex and elegant. The minerality is at once forceful but also playful. There is citrus on the palate and such filigree. Steffensberg is always one of the most mineral wines ever. — 3 years ago
Jaw dropping length, purity, elegance, and filigree. Tremendous weightlessness allied with massive flavors that felt like looking through a kaleidoscope orchard and fruits, flint-slate like minerality, luscious acids that buffer everything in this wine perfectly. — 3 years ago
The 2019 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a very elegant bouquet of red berry fruit, briar, crushed stone and rose petal, and is, so it turns out, Very Rousseau-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannins, a silver bead of acidity and plenty of energy, with wonderful tension and verve toward the finish. This is a Charmes-Chambertin with great pedigree and will give many years of drinking pleasure. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, December 2023)

Meh, esp for the price. Delicate. Filigree red fruit. Light to Med bodied. — 2 years ago
Explosive, super expressive nose. Burgundian. Nutty, mushroomy, savoury notes on the nose. Powerful dark fruited spicy core. But slinks across the palate with Burgundian weight. delicate and filigree. Tapestry. Yes!. — 3 years ago
@Delectable Wine this the Huhnerberg Auslese **. Thanks!
Wow. Young but lots going on. Unreal clarity and filigree. But nose seems quiet. Wild mint. So young. So rich, so ripe, so honeyed, so young. I’ll be back. Too hard to really judge. 9.6 for now. — 3 years ago

The 2019 Vieux Château Certan was picked from September 23 after light showers the previous day. "We dared to add some Cabernet Sauvignon in 2019, which gives complexity," Alexandre Thienpont remarks, "but the Cabernet was 'killed' in 2020." It has a much more discrete bouquet than the 2018, unfolding with truffle-tinged black fruit. There are fewer marmalade scents than I noticed a couple of years ago, but there is absolutely stunning delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannins, like a cousin of the superlative 2016 in many ways, but it may be silkier towards the finish. Elegant yet paradoxically intense, this is VCC at full flight. And it's only on its opening pages! Tasted at the VCC vertical in Etikhove, Belgium. (Neal Martin, Vinous, July 2024)
