Whitecliff Vineyard

Sky Island Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2018

Fireplace, wine and dark chocolate, tasting like dark fruit, black cherry with a bit oak. (Year 2018) — 9 days ago

Three Sticks

One Sky Sonoma Mountain Chardonnay 2021

A little green in flavor (as in unripe), too acidic, but had some elements of tropical fruit, just not full and ripe. Has potential but not the best. — 3 months ago

Sexton Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018

Brief notes. Sweet red fruits - raspberry and strawberry. Whole bunch influence. An excellent Yarra Valley Pinot Noir with a proven track record but at the end of the day Applejack Vineyard is marginally in front of Sexton Vineyard IMO. — 4 months ago

Giant Steps

Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2021

Brief notes - this is the standard Chardonnay - the individual Cuvées are more expensive. This was most impressive for the standard, reflecting the excellent vintage in most parts of Australia including the Yarra Valley. Citrus more than stone fruit. Easy to drink. — 6 months ago

Ferrari-Carano

Sky High Ranch Pinot Noir

Peppery, cherry, cranberries. Rosemary pairs well. Duck, figs, pork chops. — a month ago

Fable Mountain Vineyards

Night Sky Syrah Blend 2017

My last bottle…
A few years back I bought 3 bottles. Now can’t find another 2017 on the inter-webs.

Soft mouth feel with a kick not from tannins, per se, but from a strong peppery finish. Just loved.
36% Grenache, 36% Syrah, 31 mourverdre…
After 2017 they jacked up the Grenache and it hasn’t been the same. Not sure the vineyard is even still around.

Was fun while it lasted….

Tarraford Vineyard Chardonnay 2017

See previous notes here in 2018 and 2019. An excellent Chardonnay but probably prefer the Applejack and Sexton Vineyards for Chardonnay. — 4 months ago

Mt. Veeder Zinfandel 2015

Love this high altitude zin—old school balanced sensibility and character in abundance. Loads of cherry and spice without being hot or jammy — 2 months ago

Primavera Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

See 4 previous notes on Delectable for the 2015 Primavera. This is my last bottle. The whole bunch stalky elements have toned down in the last few years. More balanced with the red fruits. Perhaps that was Steve Flamsteed’s plan and it needed to be cellared for at least 9 years.? — 3 months ago

Applejack Vineyard Chardonnay 2018

A well made reliable tasty Yarra Valley Chardonnay. More citrus than stone fruit. Good concentration and a clean crisp finish with good persistence and length. — 4 months ago
