One of the best village wines in the biz, and 2021 is already drinking beautifully, quite different than the richer 19 and 20’s, but soft, pure and seductively elegant with amazing transparency and detail, and a liquid velvet texture. Last sips were the best. Love these wines! — 2 months ago

I was a little concerned when I found this had aged so long. It was so delicious. Ripe juicy fruit with not too much oak, Soft mellowed tannins. so glad this got the extra age. — 18 days ago

The 2020 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru is clean and precise on the nose: an enticing mélange of red and black fruit, briar and a touch of aniseed. The palate is sapid on the entry, with wonderful vivacious red cherries and strawberry fruit laced with white pepper and allspice. Real depth and mineralité flood through on the (again) aniseed-tinged finish, completing an impressive wine. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, October 2024)

Still one of my favorite producers. Mature, nuanced and drinking well. Earthy red fruit, spice and delicious. — a month ago
2020 vintage, Decanted and tasted after 10 mins and 45 mins. Medium body. Big concentration afoot paired with the (usually) lighter MM style. Verdict...guilty of requiring a mandatory 12-15 years in the cellar. Too powerful now to settle into domesticated drinking life. If you absolutely must here and now, give it a thorough 2-3 hour spa day/decanter sesh first. 8.23.24. — 3 months ago

Glorious nose. So exuberant. Rich, dense black and red cherries. Cranberry and black plum. Gorgeous lift. Palate has great freshness and deep black and red cherry fruit. Very pure and terrific acidity fans out on the long finish. Really lithe yet classic dense, structured and classic Aloxe. Really ripe, sweet, chewy and dense tannins. Girard always delivers. Fruit set that is developing on the finish is fantastic. 2019 is a modern day 1999. As this airs it gains in opulence, sap and a little toasty oak. Ideally a few more years. — 16 days ago
