IGNEOUS CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2019

2019 vintage. Smoky. Gratuitous. Big-boned. Fairly plushy end to end with enough of a burgeoning tannic finish to act as a capable keel. Undeniably both delicious and Napa. 4.13.23. — 2 years ago

Collio Sauvignon 2006

Igneous nose with pear, grapefruit and grilled grapefruit, baked lemon and oregano. Lemon driven with grapefruit pith and lime. Solid acidity here lifting a ton of flavor. White pepper and white grapefruit finish. Great!

Domaine Ilarria

Irouléguy Cabernet Franc - Tannat Rosé Blend 2019

Pours a dark transparent ruby. Nose of crushed igneous rocks and unripe strawberries. So juicy! Palate is unrestrained and electric with minerals and saline red fruit. Finish lasts and lasts. Even some spice and tannins. Perfect rose for the money. This could be really interesting with age. — 4 years ago

Philippe Pacalet

Moulin-à-Vent Gamay 2018

Popped and poured into a decanter just before service, which is probably appropriate at this stage considering how favorably this reacted to air. The 2018 Philippe Pacalet “Moulin à Vent” pours a deep ruby and displays perfectly ripe dark and red fruits, crushed igneous rock and touches of anise. There is a really compelling power and polish about this and let’s not forget about the structure: firm tannin and gorgeous acid. Went super well with rack of lamb. I guess Philippe is Marcel Lapierre’s nephew. Makes sense. Definitely a producer to watch. Now I have to try his Burgs from the Cotes du Nuits…if I can find them. — 2 years ago

Talisker

Talisker Storm Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Atop heady iodine, wet mossy and pine bio, green apple sliced thin, melon, lemon and lime peel, smoky glazed ham with pineapple, igneous grind, dried sunflower blossom, jasmine, fall maple leaves, roasted corn with sweet chillies, cinnamon, and the faintest matchstick sail memory scents. Instantly warm and welcoming ginger candy, caramel, leather, graphite, cinnamon oil, hazelnut, pine sap, mint, calvados, cherry stem, eucalyptus, tangerine oil, lime, and jalapeño. Intense and lingering, filling the mouth beyond its capacity to taste. Really lovely Talisker manifestation conjuring metal and stone textures like some dark tale of briny ghosts! #Talisker #scotch #scotchwhisky #scotchwhiskey #whiskey #whisky #TaliskerStorm #singlemalt #Isleofskye #Scotland #madebythesea #classicmaltsselection #Islay — 5 years ago

Dönnhoff

Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Auslese Riesling 2014

2014. Light petrol/rubber interplay, with black lime, lime pith and smoky cherrywood, graphite, underripe pineapple, igneous rock dripping with lemon. Sweet pineapple, lemon essence infused into lemon marmalade and emerging profoundly drier. Lime reduction, candied kalamansa with an ethereal distillation of floral and mystery citrus admixture.

(5305bb1be5c5cb8a3a001b98 -> 5305ba92352b69163a003c22) New Belgium Brewing

Voodoo Ranger 1985 IPA

Pineapple-grapefruit look blasts a big-bubbled white puff with even stacking. Igneous lacing formation churns into Pahoihoi. Grapefruit and pineapple match the drapes, with the pineapple turning jell-o with cream topping. Papaya and mango make the rounds, ripely. Clean palate of zesty lemon wrapped around just ripe mango, and a tangerine thing that rounds it to mango texture. Minerally pineapple suggests a weightless and steely finish, but the lime drops the dime to call it home. Good rotation back to white raspberry! #newbelgium #newbelgiumbrewing #voidooranger #ipa #indiapaleale #newbelgiumvoodoorangernineteeneightyfiveipa #voodoorangernineteeneightyfive #newbelgium1985 #1985ipa #beer #bier #biere #birra #rotatingseriesbeer — 4 years ago

The Balvenie Distillery

Signature 12 Years Old Limited Batch Release Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Unreal herbaceous depth here where rosemary and allspice hide their monstrous love child. Black, white and green peppercorns blast from a hollowed core sample of graphite, and igneous matter just above the roof of hell. But fear not mystic traveller, this is simply the expanse that shields the event horizon through which our universe has fallen. Yes, we are scorched and terrified, our very bone marrow boiling, our teeth dressed in ash cloth and dusty black earth, here is the golden hand of life pulling us back slowly, with tangerine lavas, smoldering lemon oils, to cardamom, hazelnut oil, the oxidative brawn of sherry, toffee, mocha and finally the cool kiss of mint, as we leave the burning sands and cross into the unexpected joy of the dangerous jungle. Better here in the tangle of living cruelty, where there is shade and dark water. — 5 years ago
