Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2022 “Swan Clone” pours a pale garnet color with a transparent core, medium viscosity and no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is youthful with mostly tart red fruits: strawberry, raspberry, rhubarb, herbs and underbrush along with some warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Lean and fresh, this needs quite a bit of time to flesh out. Drink now with sights set towards the future but this will be better after 2027 and through 2042. Only 75 cases made. — 17 days ago

Thick and dark fruited, richer than the 1999 Swan Estate Syrah also open, this shows a little of that tree bark note I sometimes get in domestic Mourvèdre, long finish, very fine (from a RRV vineyard planted in 1910). — 5 months ago

This smells like a Syrah version of the Swan Estate Pinot in this vintage, big, ripe black fruits, 15% ABV, but not at all hot, great acidity balances this, very fine CA Syrah! — 4 months ago
